Logistics Management Institute is Hiring a Technical Program Manager (Software Development) (LMI PM) Near Washington, DC

Overview

LMI is seeking a skilled Technical Project Manager to support LMI’s United States Postal Service (USPS) account. The Technical Project Manager will lead multiple project delivery teams, drive program schedules, manage project financials, and ensure high quality delivery of LMI contracts.

A successful Project Manager will be highly skilled in project management, communication, project planning, and financial management. A successful Project Manager will be detail oriented, possess the management skills to hold people accountable to quality expectations and timelines, and respond quickly to evolving client needs. A background in digital transformation and software development is highly desired. The Project Manager must demonstrate competency in leadership, strategic thinking, relationship management, multitasking, schedule management, and delivery excellence, while upholding the highest standard of ethical behavior.

Responsibilities

  • Management of complex Agile software projects ensuring that goals, requirements, and outcomes are defined and that the appropriate resources are allocated
  • Monitor team performance to ensure that projects are implemented, supported, and closed accurately and in accordance with key milestones and established project standards are upheld and clearly defined throughout the entire process of each project’s development and execution
  • Foster positive working relationships with team, client personnel and leadership counterparts
  • Prioritize tasks, set deadlines and assign resources to each project
  • Track cost, schedule and performance, as well as prepare documents and develop project specific policy, procedures and report status to all levels
  • Manage staffing requirements, including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and execution
  • Manage task assignments and oversight of personnel to ensure excellence in services delivery
  • Prepare monthly cost reports and ensure such deliverables are submitted in a timely fashion and of high quality/accuracy. When appropriate, propose a plan to correct any cost variances or projected rate adjustments
  • Prepare briefing charts, schedule meetings, keep records and record minutes, prepare after-action reports in support of technical reviews
  • Ensure program compliance with government and corporate policies and mandates, and adherence to directives from governing entities
  • Anticipate and resolves procurement challenges and problems, such as small business set aside goals, certification requirements, and acquisition strategy
  • Work with LMI and LMI business partners to pursue new business opportunities
  • Support business development and bid and proposal efforts for opportunities, bringing together capabilities across LMI to define a solution that meets and exceeds client expectations.

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Minimum of 10 years consulting experience
  • Minimum 5 years project management and/or task leadership experience
  • Experience in the areas of SDLC and Agile software development methodologies
  • Technically adept and business-focused to interface across technical disciplines and senior leadership
  • Product management or related product lifecycle experience
  • Certified Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Superior communication skills, both oral and written
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills with a “client first” attitude
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams to successful outcomes
  • Exceptional organizational skills and a deep understanding of project management best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities and exhibit flexibility based on changing client needs
  • High level of business acumen, ability to develop and implement strategy
  • Strong connector - make insightful connections to bring the right people together to solve problems and grow the business
  • This position requires a USPS Public Trust Clearance

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

  • Master’s degree or higher
  • Prior experience running software development projects in Microsoft SharePoint preferred
  • U.S. Postal Service experience preferred
  • Lean Six Sigma certification preferred
  • Agile Scrum related certification preferred
  • Organizational change management understanding and/or certifications preferred
