KTBlack Services is Hiring a Project Manager Near Pittsburgh, PA

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator/ Project Manager to join our team. This position is responsible for preparing bids for customers in commercial, industrial, oil and gas, and mining sectors, in addition to delivering comprehensive proposals in these industries in the Pittsburgh tri-state area. This position requires expertise in managing and estimating electrical projects, from conception to completion. It also requires strong leadership qualities, organization skills, and experience and understanding of electrical engineering principles. The Electrical Estimator participates in all aspects of the bid/estimating process. This includes initial review of plans, proposal specifications, soliciting and negotiating prices from contractors/suppliers, and completion of bid/estimating effort including closeout. In addition, performs quantity take-of scope of work and bidding of construction projects. This position is responsible for overseeing direct reports and managing field personnel.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work and required contents of estimate.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and tour job sites to confirm requisite take-offs; participate in project review meetings to assess project performance.
  • Prepare estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work.
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including information on pricing from suppliers obtained through direct contact, sales brochures, price lists, software uploads, etc.
  • Support other departments and personnel, such as mechanical, as required.
  • May review design options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, and/or availability of materials.
  • Cultivate strong client relationships to foster repeat business and referrals, in addition to soliciting new business; engages with customers on bid-walks and provides technical expertise.
  • Provide support to field operations regarding electrical estimates.
  • Manages direct reports including scheduling, logistics, evaluations, and general operations of work site; evaluates schedule and processes to improve efficiency and quality control assurance, safety, and performance.
  • Regularly reports to and works with the executive team on setting production targets and strategy.
  • Ensure strict adherence to budgetary guidelines, quality, and safety standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Construction Management, or licensed electrician, preferred.

- Proven experience (2-5 years) as an electrical estimator and project manager in commercial and industrial settings.

- Strong understanding of NEC and local building codes.

- Proficiency with estimating software (Accubid) and MS Office.

- Excellent organizational, communication, and negotiation skills.

- PMP or equivalent project management certification is preferred.
