REPORTS TO: Director of Programs
FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt
COMPENSATION: $22-$25/Hr.
The Career Services Coordinator will serve as a critical member of the team to support the apprentices in successfully completing the apprenticeship program by providing continuous coaching, training, and assessments to student and promoted apprentices.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- Individually meet with apprentices on a regular basis to provide coordination of services and career coaching for apprentices while completing their apprenticeship training.
- Collaborate with social service agencies to track progress of referrals and provide feedback.
- Source and develop new partnerships with other organizations that meet the needs of apprentices (i.e., housing, medical, dental & vision, grief/loss, trauma, substance abuse, childcare, and behavioral health).
- Facilitate and teach established workforce readiness curriculum providing apprentices with the soft skills necessary to successfully obtain and maintain careers in the food service/hospitality industry. Curriculum includes but is not limited to: interviewing, resume writing, workplace conduct, and effective communication.
- Collaborate with instructors to obtain feedback and evaluation of apprentice skill development. Deliver evaluations to apprentices as part of individual career coaching.
- Maintain knowledge of industry trends and review course curriculum on a continuous basis to ensure skills, techniques, and curriculum taught is conducive to the workforce environment.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, ensuring case notes are accurately documented ensures adherence with federal and state regulations as it pertains to storing and filing records. Maintain an updated agency contact and referral log.
- Perform other related duties and special projects, as assigned.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable with public speaking and be able to communicate ideas and feedback professionally and concisely in individual and group settings.
- Customer/Client focused with the ability to relate, empathize with and be aware of the perspectives and diversities of others.
- Ability to collaborate, communicate, and work effectively in a team.
- Self-motivated and results driven.
- Well-developed organizational skills together with ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines and timeframes.
- Ability to work independently.
- Bachelor’s degree or work experience as a case manager, career coach, trainer, or relevant experience in a mentoring or advising role.
- Demonstrated coaching style reflecting compassion, respect, and integrity.
- Experience working with any or all of the following:
- Foster youth
- Ex-offenders/formerly incarcerated
- Addiction, recovery, and other life-challenges
- Job training, job placement, adult education, and adult literacy
- Relevant lived experience (highly desirable)
- Knowledge of workforce or industry trends in the food service and hospitality industry (desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft office 365 programs (Excel, Word, Power Point, One Drive, and Share Point).
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
In addition to the kitchen, this job operates in a kitchen environment, housed with equipment such as an oven, stove, dishwasher, slicer, coffee machine, steamer, mixer and chef’s knives. The employee is frequently exposed to heat steam, fire and noise.
The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is a full-time non-exempt position with a working schedule of Monday – Friday 8:00am-4:30pm, however occasional evening and/or weekend may be required.
Employee will be expected to travel to as needed, to additional KFG locations and employer partner sites. Employee must have driver’s license, reliable transportation, and the ability to work across multiple sites.
