Interior Exterior Building Supply, the number one commercial and residential building material supplier in the Southeast, is searching for a motivated, experienced HR Specialist!

Interior Exterior Building Supply is headquartered in New Orleans with 32 branches located throughout the Southeast Region. This position will be based in New Orleans, LA as part of our Corporate Team! This is a new position for our company and with our continued growth in the industry we are looking to expand and build onto our HR Department.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three (3) years’ experience working in all areas of Human Resources with a strong background in benefits and compensation.

Job Responsibilities

• Responsible for the administration of benefits and company sponsored 401(k) plan, including enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, 401(k) distribution and loan requests and weekly funding of 401(k). Resolves problems associated with benefits, disability, and related activities. Assist employees with benefit related inquiries based on plan documents.
• Maintain knowledge of rates and trends of employee benefits. Has full comprehension of the company’s cost of benefits. Assists in the development of benefit package, works directly with Director of Human Resources on benefit costs, makes recommendations, and performs open enrollment and benefit meetings when necessary. Participates in benefit meetings with brokers throughout the year.
• Reconciliation of monthly benefit bills.
• Draft and post job advertisements. Assist Branch Managers with recruitment and selection process as needed.
• Assist Director of Human Resources with the development of job descriptions for the company.
• Manage annual service award program.
• Prepare management reports and assist in the development and design of HR forms.
• Maintain all PTO records for employees – managing through HRIS (ADP) and annual accruals.
• Maintains and customizes the HRIS database (ADP) – maintains all employee files and process all static changes.
• Administers the background screening and drug screening process and advises management on results.
• Maintain HRIS (ADP) self-service portal for managers and employees.
• Back up payroll as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with HRIS systems – preferably ADP.
• High level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation.
• Experience with recruitment, employee relations, file management, I9 management and any other Human Resources function.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Basic understanding of payroll processing and procedures.
• Ability to work independently.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Bachelor's degree required, years of experience in lieu of degree will be considered.
• PHR certification preferred.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience working with employee benefits and compensation
