Job Description:
POSITION DESCRIPTION
I. Position: Accountant
II. Status: Full time, Hourly
III. Reports to: Controller
IV. Position Expected Hours of Work: This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. Occasional evenings and weekends.
V. Essential Functions of the Position:
- Assists with the overall processes of the accounting department to ensure timely and accurate monthly financial statements are produced for the Finance Committee and Board of Directors.
- Assists with monthly journal entries; including allocation of staff benefits by grant/funder source and other steps needed to prepare the agency monthly financial reports.
- Assist for the analysis of balance sheet and profit and loss accounts.
- Assist with departmental spending reports for grant related reporting.
- Assist with daily electronic bank deposits and monthly bank deposits.
- Perform accounts payable duties including allocating and vouchering invoices.
- Assist with the accounts receivable function of the accounting department including creating manual and electronic billings, reconciling receivables and assisting internal customers with invoice tracking.
- Assist with all areas of accounting related to outside accounting services.
- Responsible for a variety of tasks associated with the operation of the accounting department and Independence First as a whole.

- Work environment is generally performed in an office setting with minimal to moderate noise level.
