SUMMARY:
The Vice President of Business Development will develop, implement, direct and refine the
business development strategy, plans and processes that will increase the company’s revenue,
gross margin, expand the customer base, grow existing product penetration and identify, develop
and win new business.
The VP Business Development will be an active part of the company’s leadership team and
contribute to a culture which enables integrity, ownership and innovation and models urgency,
purpose, curiosity and discipline, individually and together. As part of this team, they will help to
improve a culture that strives to meet or exceed the expectations of our customers, suppliers,
employees and shareholders.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Part of the Sr Management Team and therefore responsible for the overall
leadership, development and implementation of the vision, goals, growth and
financial success of the company.
Develop/Refine the vision, strategies, goals and objectives of the sales group.
Grow total company revenue (and value-added business = total revenue less
metal value) in a sustainable fashion while growing gross margin.
Continue to lessen dependance on the company’s largest customer while
continuing to diversify the markets we serve.
Negotiate business relationships, contracts, pricing and awards.
Analyze profitable and low margin business and develop strategies to improve.
Develop and implement effective marketing strategies.
Work with the quoting group to achieve competitive, timely and focused quotes.
Work to improve quoting effectiveness by improving triage process to eliminate
low probability quote requests.
Work with Program Management to ensure clear communication is happening
with the customer on engineering changes, takeover work and new programs.
Manage the sales managers and sales representatives in the company.
Work with Controller in developing yearly budgets and monthly reforecasts.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree minimum.
Candidate must have experience at quoting, winning new customers, expanding
into new products and markets and growing metal stamping businesses.
Proven record in driving results through measurables and ability to consistently
meet or exceed goals.
Strong understanding of stamping, fabricating and value added (assembly,
welding, painting…) markets, products and processes.
Strong research and analytical ability in the area of markets, competitors,
business trends and new product opportunities.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and other
productivity applications. Experience in Plex a plus.
Excellent negotiating and relationship building skills.
Has strong work and moral ethics.
