Idaho Community Foundation is Hiring a Marketing and Communications Manager Near Boise, ID

ABOUT YOU

We are seeking an additional staff position to add to our growing team of amazing people. This position will be based in the Boise office, where a work anywhere model is in place. Individuals will be provided equipment and support allowing them to maintain a remote workplace and generally work from the Boise office at least two days a week or more as needed and/or preferred.

Our grantmaking, community impact work and relationships with local philanthropists have strengthened nonprofits, schools and communities in every Idaho county for more than 35 years. We believe that shared philanthropy is more powerful than giving alone.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will lead the marketing efforts, integrating and leveraging the communications, events and sponsorships to increase name awareness, brand recognition and engage more people in multiple and new ways to work with Idaho Community Foundation (ICF). It serves on the management team of ICF, developing and fostering relationships with other team members to ensure all ICF activities align with the marketing plan and to maximize return. This position works with Staff, Board, Regional Councils, fundholders, grantees, community leaders and others to achieve ICF’s goals. It is based in our Boise, Idaho office, or potentially another location from within Idaho. It reports to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Five years minimum of relevant marketing experience.
  • Three years minimum of team management experience.
  • Nonprofit experience a plus.
  • Experience with website functionality, social media platforms, other marketing tools/products and Microsoft products.
  • Proficiency with brand management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Formulate and implement a marketing plan with the following goals:

  • Build the ICF brand and increase name recognition across the state.
  • Keep current and past Board and Regional Council members engaged and involved in the fund development process.
  • Engage audiences across the state by formulating a social media program to keep them up to date on grantmaking, events and other activities.
  • Educate and increase engagement with professional advisors.
  • Explore new ways for ICF to tell its story.
  • Ensure a cohesive marketing and messaging strategy with the goal of moving people to deeper engagement with ICF.
  • Develop and be responsible for a budget to support the marketing plan.
  • Identify new programs to engage more people in philanthropy through programs such as giving circles, memberships, sponsorships and new programs.
  • Evaluate marketing opportunities and new ways to engage professional advisors and other fund prospects to ensure maximum return.
  • Develop and implement a corporate sponsorship program and secure and maintain existing and new relationships.
  • Work with existing affiliate and giving circle partners.
  • Work with staff to revamp the ICF membership program.
  • Manage the communications, marketing and events staff overseeing communications including the creation of new materials, social and earned media and events for donors and other constituents. Ensure messaging is compelling and cohesive and provides people with opportunities to engage with ICF at the next level.
  • Investigate marketing opportunities currently employed by other community foundations and other relevant organizations and evaluate if ICF should pursue similar strategies.

SKILLS AND CAPABILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to improve name recognition and brand awareness as well as increasing engagement.
  • Understanding of Idaho, ideally with experience in working in various media markets across the state.
  • Experience effectively managing a team with a proven track record of building cohesion and results.
  • Capability to learn new industries and create appropriate marketing plans.
  • Proven ability to develop and manage successful partnerships and new programs.
  • Excellent customer service experience working with a wide breadth of customers with varying needs.
  • Aptitude to learn about community foundations, the nonprofit community and develop appropriate marketing and messaging plans.
  • Proven understanding of development and fundraising sectors.
  • Excellent project, time management, organizational and problem-solving skills including the ability to articulate progress, concerns and recommendations.
  • Ability to compose professional correspondence from notes, discussions or independently from knowledge of circumstances and policy.
  • Ability to interact professionally, effectively and positively with a wide variety of people, including management, staff, donors and community leaders.
  • Tact and diplomacy in addition to handling large amounts of confidential material with discretion and operating with independent judgement and initiative.
  • Experience providing support to multiple colleagues and coordinating projects.
  • Demonstrate integrity, professional maturity and strong work ethic.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft products with advanced skills in Teams and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Knowledge of how to use and maximize Customer Relationship Management software.
