POSITION DESCRIPTION

Are you ready to take on a new job that provides a perfect platform to grow yourself and your career? HGL currently has a position open for an experienced Project Manager III based in our Denver, Colorado office.

Currently, HGL is seeking a highly motivated Professional Engineer/Geologist to serve as a Project Manager for a position based in Lakewood, CO, located on the west side of the Denver metropolitan area. Our Lakewood office is supporting the USACE, USEPA, DOE and DoD with investigation and remediation of contaminated sites. We are looking for a creative professional to provide leadership and project management on complex environmental projects with a collaborative multi-disciplinary project team. Additionally, the PM will have opportunities to manage other projects for HGL across its diverse program and project portfolio. We offer office, hybrid, or remote options with preference to live within commuting distance of our Lakewood, CO office.

Responsibilities/Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING 

The person hired for this role will be responsible for:

  • Management of technical and administrative aspects of CERCLA RI/FS, RD/RA, operations and maintenance (O&M), and/or long-term monitoring (LTM) or RCRA equivalent phases of environmental restoration projects.
  • Managing project financials, scope, schedule and deliverables.
  • Ensuring accuracy of cost estimates and quality assurance of technical documents.
  • Perform peer review of technical documents and technical reviews performed by others and provide feedback and recommendations.
  • Lead project meetings with client and stakeholders.
  • Provide mentorship and leadership to staff.
  • Directing, managing, and leading project teams to meet project objectives in-line with corporate and customer quality expectations.
  • Communicating effectively with clients, regulators, project team members, and company management.
  • Effectively manage project risks and develop mitigation approaches and strategies.
  • Supporting business development efforts, including leading or supporting proposal efforts.

Required Skills

WHAT YOU NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL 

The ideal candidate will need the following as a foundation for success in this role:

  • Minimum 10 years of experience executing and managing investigation and remediation projects under CERCLA and RCRA, including oversight of project teams, management of budget, schedule, safety, quality, technical performance, and customer satisfaction.
  • BA/BS in Geology, Engineering, or a related academic field. (MA/MS in a related field may decrease the years of experience required).
  • Excellent time management and organization skills, including the ability to handle multiple tasks, prioritize and keep organized to ensure timely and accurate work.
  • Experience with investigation and/or remediation of environmental contaminants including chlorinated solvents and petroleum impacts.
  • Prior experience managing environmental restoration/compliance on DoD installations.
  • Proven ability to manage teams, subcontractors, and vendors to execute contracts within proposed budget and timeline.
  • Strong technical writing and documentation experience with prior experience contributing to the preparation of technical reports, memoranda, and work plans.
  • Ability to build consensus among leadership, internal, and external stakeholders through effective interpersonal communication and relationship building skills.

WHAT YOU NEED TO STAND OUT - (Preferred, not required)

  • PE, PG, and/or PMP certifications.
  • Work experience in Colorado, Wyoming and Montana.
  • Experience with investigation and/or remediation of PFAS impacted sites.
  • Experience with high resolution site characterization (HRSC).
  • Solid understanding of screening values and risk assessment process.
  • Experience with remedial technologies and approaches.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
