We are in search of a Construction Project Specialist who is a self-starter, a simplifier, and an anticipator. The candidate must embrace and foster the culture of our organization. As our Construction Project Specialist, you will work closely with the Managing Partner and/or Director of Construction and cross-functionally with multiple departments to manage remodels, re-equips, and new builds. In this role, you will work collaboratively and independently to streamline the construction process, track pertinent project data points, and meet deadlines and budgets in a fast-paced environment.

Position Objective:

The Construction Project Specialist is responsible for forecasting, planning, scheduling, and leading contractors and internal teams to successfully execute Projects within budget and in a timely manner. Projects include ground-up construction, interior buildouts, exterior signage, facility system upgrades, facility maintenance, and special projects. The specialist will also coordinate with partners, the operational team, and the maintenance service team to execute quarterly and annual plans as well as to establish project guidelines and goals.

Essential Functions:

· Leads efforts to broaden effective communication on behalf of the partners and within the team

· Evaluate progress and prepare detailed weekly reports for team

  • Generate and control bid forms, RFQs, RFIs, change orders, vendor invoices and company billings

· Collaborate with engineers, architects etc. to determine specifications of projects

· Review project plans to identify potential conflicts.

· Review project scope and key process steps to obtain required approvals, permits, and materials necessary for successful execution in a timely manner

· Communicate effectively with Landlords and Property Managers to ensure compliance with Lease Agreements during buildout

· Work with city, state, and local governments to obtain proper licenses and permits

· Work with internal Operations, Finance, & Development departments to plan, schedule and execute plans

· Partner up with the Director of Construction and/or managing partner to determine needed resources (manpower, equipment, and materials) from start to finish with attention to budgetary limitations

· Partner up with the Director of Construction and/ or managing partner to negotiate contracts with external vendors to reach profitable agreements and cut cost

· Research and qualify new contractors and vendor partners

· Coordinate and oversee construction plans and construction to comply with Planet Fitness standards

· Schedule intermediate phases and site visits to ensure compliance and deadlines during construction

· Follow appropriate preventative maintenance programs for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Fitness Equipment

· Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards. Utilize proficiency in TAS, and any applicable local codes to provide ongoing feedback during construction

· Evaluate progress and prepare detailed reports for group meetings. Communicate schedule and schedule changes to the team

Minimal Requirements:

· Associate or bachelor’s degree in a Construction related field or equivalent work experience required

· Proficiency in MS Office Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Project

· Demonstrated knowledge of construction and business

· Comprehensive Knowledge in the following areas: Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, HVAC, and Flooring

· Ability to make recommendations regarding complex, strategic decisions

· Ability to communicate, influence, and negotiate decisions.

· Ability to work in a team environment.

· Strong attention to detail, preparedness, and organization

· Understanding of budgetary concepts and procedures

· Ability to prepare and present ideas and recommendations

Working Conditions/Travel Requirements:

· Capacity and flexibility to work 40 hours per week and/or extended shifts

· Ability to drive to multiple locations and travel as needed

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
