Housby Mack is Hiring a Human Resources Specialist Near Des Moines, IA

Department: Online Sales

FLSA Status: Exempt

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

Housby is seeking a qualified and resourceful Human Resources Specialist to support our online sales department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. This position will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities, and will help with important functions such as staffing, training and development, and employee relations.

EXPECTATIONS:

Essential Duties include the following. Other duties as assigned.

  • Develop, facilitate, and implement all phases of the recruitment process for Online Sales.
  • Collaborate with department heads to identify and draft detailed job descriptions and hiring criteria.
  • Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on industry standards.
  • Assist with the interview process, attending and conducting interviews with managers and other stakeholders.
  • Perform routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training and development.
  • Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Monitor employee morale and company culture.
  • Attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in college job fairs and recruitment events, as needed.
  • Maintain a professional image at all times..
  • Follow all Company safety rules and safety policies.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proven work experience as a HR Generalist or similar role with a minimum of 5 years of previous experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of general human resources policies and procedures.
  • Good knowledge of employment/labor laws.
  • Aptitude in problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • A leader and strategic thinker.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field, or equivalent work experience, highly preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Oral communication over the phone and in person.
  • Alpha/numeric keyboarding.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • The work environment for this position is varied due to the differences in our work site. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outside weather conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
