An integral member of the Human Resources team, the Human Resources Generalist functions as a mid-level practitioner with responsibility for a variety of duties central to departmental operations to include but not limited to: recruitment, on-boarding, training and staff development, payroll and benefit administration, employee relations, and the like. Maintains confidentiality and ensures the privacy of protected health information (PHI).
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned competently. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field together with three to five years of meaningful experience in the Human Resources arena required. Prior experience in higher education preferred or a combination of education, training, or experience sufficient to demonstrate the ability to perform the job. Credential of Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or Society for Human Resource Management – Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) preferred or completed within two years of employment if lacking.
Physical Requirements
Ability to read, write, hear, speak, see and communicate effectively. Ability to operate basic office equipment to include, photocopier, fax machine, adding machine, computer equipment, display monitors and the like. Position is largely sedentary. Occasional lifting of office supplies, booklets, etc. is necessary.
