Gestalt Community Schools is Hiring a Director of Human Resources Near Memphis, TN

Description

Gestalt Community Schools is a system of K-12 college-preparatory charter schools in targeted Tennessee communities. GCS schools provide strong academic outcomes for their scholars through initiatives including meaningful community involvement. GCS catalyzes community leadership to help revitalize the neighborhood as it operates its schools in that community. Instead of debating whether education impacts the community or vice versa, GCS believes that the most effective method to support student achievement is an integration of education and community (a true "gestalt")

Gestalt Community Schools is seeking a highly skilled Director of Human Resources. The Director of Human Resources is responsible for managing effective Human Resource systems, procedures, and policies while providing outstanding customer service to leaders and staff in our schools and charter management office. The ideal Director of Human Resources embodies Gestalt's core values and operates with integrity, leading with humanity, centering self-awareness and critical consciousness, taking personal responsibility, and engaging productively.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and oversee all Human Resource functions
  • Provide continuous, high-quality support and coaching to school and senior leaders on employee relations issues, including employee morale, workplace relations, corrective action and grievances
  • Develop and manage Gestalt’s recruitment strategy and manage data tracking systems to assess the talent pipeline and make adjustments as needed
  • Use qualitative and quantitative data to identify gaps in existing HR policies and practices and partner with senior leadership to implement new policies and structures to address any gaps
  • Oversees human resource administration, including the new hire and exit processes, teacher licensure and certification, salaries and benefits
  • Lead, own, and manage tracking and documentation for employee accommodations, unemployment compensation claims, workers' compensation claims, parental and medical leaves, and FMLA
  • Manage exit interviews and synthesize data
  • Lead and manage the teacher licensure process, tracking, and support (including partnerships with teacher certification programs)

SKILLS

  • Strong ability to navigate sensitive matters and offer exceptional customer service to staff and external parties supporting Human Resources
  • Comfort working with data, conducting analysis, seeking insights, and making inferences from data to drive future planning
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to quickly establish credibility to develop and manage productive relationships with internal and external individuals and stakeholders

Requirements

  • 6 years of experience working in human resources required
  • Experience working in the K-12 education sector is strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in HR-related fields preferred
  • SHRM or other HR certifications are a plus
