Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is Hiring a Development Manager Near Atlanta, GA

Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation (GFBF)

GFBF Mission: to partner with fire service & burn care community to provide safety and prevention education, support medical facilities, and assist burn survivors in their journey of recovery.

Reports to: Executive Director

Works with: GFBF staff, volunteers, fire service, public safety, medical personnel, corporate and community partners, donors, service population, and other committees/groups as assigned.

Georgia Firefighters Burn Foundation is seeking a motivated and experienced Development Manager to join our team on a part-time contract basis, to develop and spearhead fundraising efforts crucial for increasing resources; This position offers a tremendous opportunity to make a meaningful impact by cultivating relationships & implementing fund development strategies that align with the mission and goals of the foundation.

The Development Manager will play a key role in advancing the organization's fundraising efforts to support the mission of serving individuals, families and communities affected by burn injury and trauma through securing resources essential to sustain and grow program service offerings.

Work is remote and will normally be performed at the office of the Development Manager, but occasionally take place at other locations as required including weekly staff meetings held onsite at GFBF and other events as outlined. Must be willing to adjust flexible work schedule to accommodate occasional evening and/or weekend activities.

The Development Manager establishes and maintains official documentation and recordkeeping including campaign reports and account portfolios; participation in budget preparation, expense accounting, staff meetings, team building events and Board of Director meetings upon request; Limited travel required for attendance at various local association meetings, national conferences, community groups, and other gatherings beneficial to increasing the foundations’ knowledge base and visibility within service area.

The ideal candidate is expected to be adept at promoting the foundation, relationship building with key partners, donor cultivation, securing grants, organizing special events; work with the team in crafting language to ensure consistency of foundation public messaging.

Responsibilities

  • Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies to support the financial sustainability and growth of the organization. Collaborate with the Executive Director, staff, Board of Directors and other such committees to set fundraising goals and objectives. research on funding expansion opportunities.
  • Grant Writing and Management: responsible for lead preparation, data collection, writing, editing and submission of high-quality grant proposals, applications, and reports. Manage grant timelines, requirements, and reporting deadlines. Knowledge of grant funding policies and procedures and applicable local, state, federal regulations. Strong focus on grants acquisition through effective research strategies to identify and pursue grant opportunities and coordinate administration of grant awards, in addition to ensuring the seamless integration for the life cycle of grants and contracts, from project development through implementation, reporting, and invoicing.
  • Donor Cultivation and Stewardship: Cultivate relationships with individual donors, corporate partners, and other stakeholders to increase philanthropic support for the organization. Plan and execute donor cultivation events, stewardship activities, and recognition programs while maintaining sensitivity to confidential donor information.
  • Fundraising Events: Plan and execute fundraising events, including donor appreciation gatherings, virtual fundraisers, online fundraising initiatives, and outreach events to engage diverse communities with compelling messaging and materials to engage corporate donors and inspire individual giving; Provide support and oversight with the foundations’ annual Give Burns the Boot Campaign.
  • Special Events: Plan and implement solicitation campaigns and year-round engagement activities/opportunities, to include follow-up processes for pledge administration of direct mail appeals, email solicitations, and crowdfunding initiatives to expand donor base, sponsorships, volunteer recruitment, and participant engagement. Provide ancillary logistical support for fundraising activities hosted by 3rd party entities.
  • Donor Database Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the organization's database. Track donor interactions, gifts, pledges, and acknowledgments. Generate donor reports and analytics to evaluate performance indicators.
  • Communications: Collaborate with key staff, board members and volunteers to integrate fundraising efforts with programmatic strategies designed with a focus on diversification and increased revenue. Communicate with stakeholders and community partners through various multi-channels mediums, including electronic and print.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and/or minimum 2 years of experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, and donor stewardship, with a proven track record of successfully securing grants and sponsorships from diverse sources.
  • Knowledge of best practices in nonprofit fundraising, including donor cultivation, stewardship, and gift acknowledgment.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate organization mission and impact to diverse audiences; Detail oriented with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, with ability to craft compelling narratives and proposals.
  • Proficiency in donor management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and online fundraising platforms.
  • Prior experience working with volunteer teams and knowledge of the fire service profession desirable, but not required.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
