The George E. Booth Co. is a family-owned and operatedindustrial automation sales company looking to hire their next full-time Accounting Assistant.
The George E. Booth Co. is a majordistributor of process instrumentation products and related services tocustomers in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Tennessee. Founded in1963, George E. Booth Sr. recognized that there would be a natural evolution inthe development of products for the industrial instrumentation process field.
In addition to excellent communication skills, written andverbally, the ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail, ability tomaintain organized calendar/events planner for other employees. Accounting Assistant is responsible forproviding support to the finance department and Controller by assisting withthe company’s accounting and financial activities. All candidates must be legally authorized to work in theUnited States.
Responsibilities for the Accounting Assistant
1.Assist with preparingmonthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
2.Create monthlyconsolidated P&L, provide timely and accurate analysis of budgets,financial reports, and financial trends to assist the controller and the executivemanagement team.
3.Createfinancial statements for customers and management.
4.Assist thecontroller with budget forecasting, development, and tracking.
5.Ensure thatall accounting practices comply with legal guidelines and establishedaccounting principles.
6.Assist withbilling and tax documentation preparation.
7.Codeinvoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close monthly books.
8.Produceerror-free monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables such as journalentries, reconciliations, reports in compliance with GAAP.
9.Reconcilebank accounts at least monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries frombanks.
10.Responsiblefor accounts payable processes including posting of invoices, tracking ofinventory.
11.Serve as aback up to accounts receivable in tracking bank deposits and cash receipts.
12.Provideoutside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information anddocuments to perform annual audit.
13.Knowledge ofgeneral financial accounting and cost accounting.
14.Retrievechecks returned to customers in error, adjust customer accounts and answerinquiries about errors as necessary.
15.Knowledge ofadministrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing,managing files and records.
16.Providegeneral administrative support with answering telephones and sorting mail.
17. All other duties as assigned by supervision.
Requirements for the Accounting Assistant
·Ability to make decision, be attentive to details, have culturalawareness and relationship management skills
·High school diploma, GED diploma, or oneto two years’ related experience or training, or equivalent combination ofeducation and experience is required.
·Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field orthree to five years’ work experience in similar field and/or industry ispreferred.
