G&A Partners' client is currently seeking a Director of Human Resources to join its team in Joliet, IL.

Responsibilities

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Has primary responsibility for the enactment of progressive human resource practice, ensuring that employees are treated in a fair and humane manner in keeping with applicable federal and state regulations and supervision of all department staff members.
  • Lead the HR function for the Agency with a focus on recruiting and retaining talent, building a lean, high-performing team, and modernizing tools, practices and processes.
  • Work effectively and influence others in a diverse and dynamic work environment.
  • Consult with management and legal counsel on complex HR concerns.
  • In collaboration with the executive leadership team, write and manage all HR policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned within the guidelines of this position.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Serves as the senior most member of HR operations, providing strategic leadership and administering all human resource functions for the Agency, supporting best practices including operational budget development and adherence and provides anecdotal and statistical information to assist with funding requests.
  • Ensures that all operations meet the company, licensure, credential, and program standards and establishes operating and administrative policies and procedures to assure efficient program operation and compliance with all contractual terms, conditions and obligations; and with all federal, state, and local legal requirements as outlined by regulatory bodies.
  • Meets regularly with Executive Director concerning company staffing and workforce development to maintain operational compliance and review proposed initiatives to strategically address needs.
  • In collaboration with other senior leaders are expected to enhance the partnership between the HR department and key company leaders to improve productivity, reduce turnover, increase employee satisfaction, improve hiring outcomes and upgrade talent throughout the organization.
  • In collaborations with the executive leadership team, establish and implement the Agency’s:
  • Wage and compensation strategic plan and guidelines.
  • Employee development and training strategy.
  • Recruitment and retention strategies promoting the company as an employer of choice in the community.
  • Oversees all labor and employee relations for the Agency, maintaining an effective working relationship with Service Employee International Union (SEIU) officials and ensuring adherence to the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Develop, maintain, and encourage a culturally diverse work force. Serving as facilitator of diversity, inclusion, and equity efforts.
  • Develops and monitors all human resource management policies and
  • Is responsible for maintaining compliance with the applicable sections of all accreditation standards 
  • Oversees the continuous quality improvement process for the department and prepares the plan of correction, when needed.
  • Represents the company to outside organizations and/or committees as needed
  • Responsible for and participates in the company Staff Orientation Training.
  • Supervises, hires, and cross trains the Human Resources Department staff members and student interns, establishing an effective and collaborative team focused leadership approach; and monitors priorities and work schedules to ensure accurate and timely completion of required operations.
  • Leads and serves as member/participant on various Agency committees.
  • Serves as member of the company Management Team and participates in scheduled management meetings. Collaborating with Management Team members as needed.
  • Qualifications

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Preferred for this position is a Master’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field and with a minimum of seven (7) years of experience in the field and at least three (3) of those years in a senior leadership role or equivalent experience; or a Bachelor’s Degree in human resources, business, or related field with a minimum of ten (10) years of experience in the field and at least five (5) those years in a senior leadership role or equivalent experience. All degrees must come from a regionally accredited educational institution which has U.S. Department of Education approval.
  • Currently holds a human resources industry recognized senior level certification such as Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) or Human Resources Certification Institute (HRCI) is highly preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory responsibility with demonstrated success at establishing a positive and team approach in a multi-cultural and diverse environment is required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years demonstrated experience in employee relations is required.
  • Experience in a unionized environment is preferred.
  • Not-for-profit experience is helpful, but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience across the full HR body of knowledge which includes: HR strategic planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement and retention, learning and development, total rewards, organizational effectiveness and development, workforce management, employee relations, technology management, diversity and inclusion, risk management, corporate social responsibility, and U.S. employment law and regulations.
  • Experience in leading and sustaining diversity, equity, and inclusion into HR operations is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills including, planning, implementing continuous improvement methodologies, delegating, program development, creating partnerships and working with internal and external stakeholders for strategic goal completion.
  • Ability to motivate and manage the work of others in a participatory manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, cultivate and maintain relationships with key individuals for the benefit of the Agency.
  • Results-driven, creative individual with proven capability to work independently in an organized, detail-oriented and efficient manner in a multi-task, fast paced team environment, meeting strict deadlines and leading others to do the same.
  • Proven ability working effectively, professionally, and strategically with individuals from all racial, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and handle confidential information discreetly.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
  • Demonstrated high-level of verbal and written communication skills and interactive listening skills.
  • Passage of complete background clearance, Tuberculosis (TB) Test, and any other required testing or clearances.
  • A valid driver’s license, reliable means of transportation and proof of liability insurance is required.
