Grants and Development Manager
POSITION OVERVIEW
Under the direction of the Chief of Staff, the Grants and Development Manager (GDM) is responsible for writing and submitting multidisciplinary, and multi-collaborative grant proposals, ranging in size, scope and complexity, to a wide range of public and private external funding agencies and organizations, such as foundations, corporations, government, and other institutions. The GDM will support budget development, prepare grant and stewardship reports to corporate and foundation donors, and manage the grants tracking process. This position will also engage in other development writing projects related to strengthening Future Foundation’s fundraising capacity.
The GDM will have goals to produce a specific number of quality proposals in alignment with the organization's annual development plan and will be required to meet a minimum revenue of $3 million annually with revenue goals increasing each fiscal year. This position will plan FF’s development and fundraising programs, establish and lead an advisory board/fundraising committee for our Keeping It 100 Annual Fundraiser, and work collaboratively with the executive leadership team, contractors, and partners to execute and meet the financial goals of the department and organization.
This is a hybrid position with a combination of office time, occasional in-person meetings, and event attending. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and internally motivated to meet critical deadlines in this hybrid environment. All work is to be completed with standard supervision, confidentiality, integrity, and good judgment in accordance with organization standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
ADMINITRATIVE & DATABASE MANAGEMENT 30%
- Within the initial 90-Days: Develop a strong knowledge and understanding of key staff and program and policy areas, and the protocols for effective communications and interactions within the organization.
- Within the initial 90-Days: Collaborate with the executive leadership team to develop a fundraising plan.
- Remaining up to date on the timely submission of all funding and grant reports.
- Monitor changes to grant submission portals and procedures and ensure ongoing compliance with supporter requirements.
- Arrange for efficient communication in advance of important dates for meetings, reports, and audits with the internal team, contractors, and partners.
- Maintain database of donors and prospects on Salesforce.
- Provide effective coordination of activities for prospective and current funding organizations, including site visits and prospect/cultivation/stewardship meetings.
UNRESTRICTED FUNDING 25%
- Produce a long-term unrestricted funding stream capable of growth.
- Actively engage in ongoing prospect research that identifies funding opportunities that offer a favorable return on investment and advance strategic priorities.
- Help plan, develop, and execute fundraising special events such as BOD Give or Get, Peer-to-Peer, Giving Tuesday.
- Write, edit, and produce all appeal materials.
- Partner with the Development team to develop multi-channel written content for Development campaigns and events to increase individual giving.
GRANT FUNDING 25%
- Institutional grant-writing with a focus on the creation of out-of-the-box proposals.
- Prioritizing grant applications and collaborating with program leadership, staff and other subject matter experts to ensure alignment of funding opportunities with strategic priorities.
- Research and identify grant opportunities.
- Participate in the development of grant concepts.
- Produce written grant proposals.
- Manage relationships with grantors.
FRONTLINE FUNDRAISING GOALS 10%
- Identify, cultivate, and solicit gifts from individuals and businesses through regular donor gatherings, tours and ask events.
- Coordinate face to face cultivations each year with high-net-worth donors and prospects capable of making six and seven figure gifts.
- Develop solicitations of $250K or more each quarter.
- Grow the Planned Gift Pipeline.
- Manage a portfolio of 125 prospects.
- Collaborate with other members of the team to create donor strategies and proposals.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT 5%
- Participate in FF hosted events.
- Attend external events sometimes requiring an evening and/or weekend commitment.
- Be a knowledge center on FF’s work in the community and understand FF’s community priorities and grantmaking framework.
- Know the history, accomplishments, programs, and direction of Future Foundation; internalize and emulate the mission, vision, values of FF.
- Involved with professional advisor network and with professional philanthropic staff in the business community.
COMMUNICATION & MARKETING 5%
- Write, edit, and produce occasional newsletters, or other promotional brochures.
- Write and/or approve media writer copy prior to distributing press releases.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree and equivalent fundraising experience required, or a combination of education and experience may be considered.
- 3-7 years of fundraising experience.
- Successful track record of non-profit fund development and/or for-profit sales and sales management.
- Demonstrated success in relationship building and management.
- Must be organized with the ability to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of fundraising budgets.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Exceptional verbal and interpersonal skills.
- Experience tracking and reporting fundraising metrics.
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word and Excel required).
- Excellent writing and organizational skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORKING CONDITIONS
- Hours of Operation: Although organization hours are Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., this leadership position may work at varied times, especially during peak times such as holiday seasons, grant reporting dates, and events dates. Due to rapidly changing circumstances, tactical considerations can also alter quickly. Seasonal and after-hours business work will be required occasionally.
- Environment: This position works in a typical office setting and in the community. There may be extended periods of sitting, standing, and/or bending; listening, talking, and/or visual concentration; writing and/or computer use.
- Travel: A valid driver’s license is required. This position will require significant travel throughout Atlanta and various regions when needed. Required use of a personal vehicle, and occasional out-of-town travel for meetings, conferences, or events.
- OSHA Standards Lifting requirements are 50 pounds and when lifting loads heavier than 50 pounds, use two or more people to lift the load.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
