Job Title: Grants and Communications Manager

Department: Development

Supervisor: Senior Director of Development

FLSA Status: Full time (40 hours a week), exempt

Summary

Grants and Communications Manager will help develop and implement the strategy for all communications, website, and public relations messages and collateral to consistently articulate Whitefoord’s mission. This role is responsible for marketing Whitefoord’s services and overall mission. Goals for this position include growing annual grant revenue, implementing marketing and communications plans, and supporting the overall growth of Whitefoord’s business development and philanthropic footprint.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Communications Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of communications plans with cost-effective marketing and outreach strategies to communicate with a range of different audiences through printed and electronic media and advertising.
  • Manage the Whitefoord website to ensure that the content is consistent, coherent, and navigable and technical aspects are kept up to date.
  • Manage Whitefoord’s social media presence and digital marketing including content creation.
  • Manage development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, newsletters, brochures, annual report, e-newsletters, and Whitefoord's website.
  • Develop and manage Whitefoord’s communications and event marketing calendar.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with marketing and program-related staff, consultants, and vendors to better understand and relay Whitefoord’s programming and mission.

Grants Duties and Responsibilities

  • Research funding opportunities, develop/write grant proposals, and cultivate relationships with grant-making organizations.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive grant-seeking strategy aligned with the Whitefoord's mission and objectives including increasing Whitefoord’s grant revenue.
  • Write compelling grant proposals and applications that effectively communicate Whitefoord's mission, goals, and impact.
  • Collaborate with program managers and other team members to gather data and information needed for grant proposals.
  • Prepare and submit timely grant reports to funders, highlighting program accomplishments and outcomes.
  • Assists Senior Director of Development as needed with the following development-related tasks including but not limited to event planning and execution, donor acknowledgement letters, and donor platform management.

Qualifications, Education, and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism, public affairs, English, nonprofits, public policy, or related field preferred.
  • Demonstrates commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • Commitment to Whitefoord’s mission and improving health equity for the communities we serve.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience as a full-time communications, marketing, or development professional with demonstrated success.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must possess above-average command of speaking and writing skills.
 
REASONING ABILITY: Knowledge of development and marketing skills, strong verbal and written analytical and interpersonal skill, and the ability to prioritize workload and set goals. Analyzes problems or procedures and decides on a correct course of action when a choice can be made; makes logical and timely decisions; identifies and applies logic and reason to resolution of problems; exhibits flexibility and willingness to learn; deals professionally with unexpected situations.
