Digital-first Staff Accountant position that participates in production of financial statements and communicating financial results to bank management. Maintains accurate financial records for the bank, ensuring the validity of balances, financial activity throughout the bank and financial reports.

• Participates in full-cycle accounting for $500MM financial institution, including preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports Completes monthly reconciliations for general ledger balance sheet accounts, verifying required supporting documentation, ensuring accurate processing, and posting of all account entries.
• Conducts ad-hoc analysis as assigned by Accounting Officer or CFO, to include branch and product profitability, Fintech program research, and investment analysis.
• Maintains highest level of accuracy and controls on accounting records and presents work to external auditors, internal auditors, and regulatory examiners.
• Documents all transaction and general ledger adjustments.
• Assists other department members with daily general ledger reconciliations.
• Under general direction from CFO, assists in preparation of annual budget, including input to budget software and producing budget variance reports.
• Assists in preparation of quarterly regulatory Call Report, inputs data to software, and research exceptions prior to submission.
• Interacts with Operations and other departmental personnel to ensure compliance with established accounting procedures.
• Assists CFO in preparation of financial statements and other management reports.
• Monitors and reviews income & expense general ledger accounts on a monthly or quarterly basis; prepares monthly variance report and explanation of significant variances.
• Prepares securities and collateral reports; advises CFO of status and changes necessary to maintain collateral positions required by customers.
• Monitors bank owned property and prepares fixed asset reports.
• Monitors bank lease and tenant lease activity and prepares monthly and quarterly reports.
• Assists CFO and Accounting Officer with financial, regulatory, and other projects as assigned.
• Protects the confidentiality of all financial data relating to bank operations and customers.

Requirements

• Strong knowledge of GAAP, particularly as applied to financial institutions. Can be achieved through education, work experience, or a combination of both.
• Technical level of knowledge normally acquired through completion of an undergraduate level program in accounting.
• Three to four years prior experience in accounting, preferably banking industry, but not required.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Excellent computer and software skills; Microsoft Excel and Adobe Acrobat.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to function in a team environment.
