Fly Minds is Hiring an Executive Director Near Alexandria, VA

Fly Minds seeks a mission-driven and experienced nonprofit business leader skilled in successfully executing strategic plans and empowering its members. This position is a part-time independent contractor position that will primarily work from home. Ideal candidates will have their own computer, access to the internet, and a printer.

The Executive Director will be responsible for effectively leading the company in achieving its mission and aid in the growth of an impactful organization. The director is responsible for a full range of activities including organizational structure and procedures, direct supervision of volunteers and other contract staff, membership retention, marketing, planning and organization of yearly events, and community involvement.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

This part-time contractor position is for immediate hire and reports to the CEO. This impactful leadership position is responsible for overseeing the administration, programs, and strategic plan of the organization. This position requires a dynamic, mission-driven leader who is passionate about leading operations, fostering growth, as well as developing and managing Fly Minds youth programs.

Experience/Skills

  • At least seven years of prior executive experience as a successful leader of a related nonprofit organization and/or organization
  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently and willingness to learn
  • A strong passion for the mission and programs of Fly Minds
  • Passion for creative program creation and organizational funding growth
  • Ability to review current organizational programs/structures and make recommendations that empower programmatic refinements
  • A proven track record of growing organizational capacity and programmatic impact
  • Capable of designing and directing strategies that enhance and support organizational operations
  • Professional communication skills, including written and oral communications
  • Ability to plan, organize, and set long-term strategy
  • Experience in creating and establishing clear, measurable business goals
  • Knowledge of software applications such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, and Click Up
  • Experience in coordinating events of all sizes from board meetings to community events
  • Working knowledge with social media channels such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization and ensure its overall successful long-term operations
  • Lead, manage, and guide the organization to attain continued growth, success, and optimal mission impact for Fly Minds programs
  • Assure that the organization makes consistent and timely progress in achieving its mission and target programmatic impact
  • Plan, actively manage, and oversee the organization’s operations, programs, partnerships and fundraising campaigns, while ensuring the organization’s financial sustainability
  • Attend Board meetings and provide reports and updates on staff as well as all current work, project timelines, and project and organizational progress
  • Provide leadership in developing program, organizational goals while executing the plans for Fly Kings
  • Effectively represent the organization and promote a positive organizational image to ensure adequate community representation
  • Apply innovative thinking and performance measurements to analyze and support strategic decision-making
  • With assistance from the CEO, set yearly calendar goals, establish objectives, and operational plans
  • Oversee and report on the organization’s results for the CEO
  • Develop an annual budget and maintain monthly records
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and prospective partners
  • Supervise the training of an organization of volunteers and other contracts employees
  • Manage all incoming emails to the CEO
  • Follow any other request by the Executive Board

COMPENSATION:

This opportunity offers the ability to make significant impact leading and growing an impactful nonprofit organization and a team-oriented atmosphere that is both positive and rewarding. Starting compensation is negotiable based on experience level.
