Florence Project is Hiring a Talent Acquisition Manager Near Phoenix, AZ

The Organization

The Florence Project (Florence Immigrant & Refugee Rights Project, or FIRRP) was founded in 1989 to respond to a representation crisis for indigent non-citizens detained at the rural Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Detention Center in Florence, Arizona. Through our programs today, we provide services to thousands of adults and children detained in Eloy, Florence, Phoenix, and Tucson, Arizona, on any given day. The Florence Project is nationally known for its legal and social services that ensure that detained immigrants are empowered and have access to justice. The Florence Project provides high-quality legal services and supports initiatives for national changes in immigration law and policy, and currently has 180 staff members and offices in Phoenix, Tucson, and Florence, Arizona.

Primary Purpose of the Job:

The Talent Acquisition Manager supports FIRRP by ensuring the Talent Acquisition function at FIRRP is strategic and successful at finding and retaining a diversity of qualified and dedicated persons whose work supports the FIRRP mission and advances FIRRP’s DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) goals and values. This includes a responsive, informed, and collaborative ongoing quest to discover talent, build a strong employment brand at FIRRP, and ensure great relationships with both candidates and employees. 

The Talent Acquisition Manager must be an experienced professional; knowledgeable in full-cycle recruiting and employment branding; possess a sharp ability to find talented people through research and active engagement in diverse communities and agencies; and have a steady commitment to help successful candidates thrive at FIRRP.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Determine current staffing needs and produce staffing forecasts. 
  • Develop talent acquisition strategies and hiring plans, in collaboration with organizational leadership directives and management needs. 
  • Lead employment branding initiatives that highlight the purpose and value of working at FIRRP. 
  • Perform sourcing to fill open positions and anticipate future needs, using multiple and diverse resources, including job specific organizations, institutions of higher education, law schools, and specialized groups and publications that align with FIRRP’s DEIA values and goals. 
  • Plan and conduct recruitment and selection processes (interviews, screening calls etc.) with the applicant experience in mind. 
  • Take steps to ensure a positive candidate experience that includes lawful, timely, and complete communication with candidates throughout the recruitment process. 
  • Assist in employee retention and development. 
  • Supervise recruiting personnel. 
  • Organize and/or attend career fairs, assessment centers, or other events. 
  • Use metrics to create reports and identify areas of improvement. 
  • Provide general support to the Office of People & Culture as needed. 
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned. 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 4 years experience as talent acquisition manager, including experience in full-cycle recruiting, sourcing, and employment branding. 
  • Working knowledge of lawful selection methods and techniques. 
  • Proficient in the use of social media, job boards, recruitment sites, and other platforms for sourcing talent. 
  • Experience working with others to understand the duties and competencies of different roles. 
  • Working knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and databases. 
  • BSc/BA in business administration, human resources, or relevant field. 

Preferred Requirements:

  • SHRM- SCP or SPHR a plus. 
  • JD and/or MSW preferred.
  • Experience working with HRIS systems, BambooHR preferred. 
  • Fluency and advanced proficiency in Spanish (speaking, writing, reading).

  • Able to work independently, be adaptable and reliable in the face of conflict, pressure, crisis, or changing priorities. 
  • Be a self starter and take initiative to add and complete other value-added tasks as able.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands:

  • Operate in a professional office environment and requires the ability to sit for long periods of time with intermittent walking, standing, bending, squatting, pulling, and pushing.
  • Requires the ability to use standard office equipment such as scanners, computers, keyboards, phones, shredders, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. Requires the ability to lift-up to ten pounds - accommodations may be available.
  • The Florene Project has three offices: Phoenix, Tucson, and Florence, AZ. The Florence office is headquartered approximately one hour south of Phoenix, or one-and-a-half hours north of Tucson. The position has flexibility to be remote.
  • Potential travel to Eloy, Florence, Phoenix, Tucson.
  • Effective September 1, 2021, FIRRP has implemented a mandatory COVID-19 vaccine policy. To comply with this policy, active employees must be fully vaccinated by October 15, 2021. Salary & Benefits:

This is a full-time, salaried exempt position. Salary is competitive for our field and geographical area, and the salary range is $65,000-$72,500 DOE. We strive to create and uphold a positive, supportive, and inclusive work environment for all staff. We offer excellent benefits, including:

  • Medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and short-term disability insurance, with full premiums paid by the Florence Project, and partial health insurance premiums paid for dependents.
  •  Eligible employees are eligible for an employer matching retirement plan as soon as the employee contributes to their retirement plan.
  •  One personal day paid each month.
  •  Twenty-five days of vacation per year.
  •  Five days of sick/medical leave annually.
  •  Twelve weeks of paid parental leave.
  •  Relocation Assistance for out of state new hires
  •  Bereavement leave.
  •  All federal holidays observed.
  •  After three years of employment, employees are eligible for an eight-week paid sabbatical.
  •  Mileage reimbursement for travel between offices and places of work.
