Business Development Manager (Office/Hybrid/Remote)

About the role:

As a Business Development Manager, you will play an instrumental role in helping DollarDays International expand its overall impact and reach within the nonprofit sector. Relationship building and experience selling in the nonprofit sector are key to success in this role as you will be responsible for increasing the overall pool of nonprofit clients, partnerships, and new business lines in your area. Over the phone or in person, you will initiate and develop strong relationships with impactful customers at the HQ and C-Suite levels. Bottom line, we are looking for a Business Development Manager who is passionate and mission-driven to help our nonprofit customers get the products they need to support their communities and do more good in the world. DollarDays is based in Phoenix, Arizona, and this role can be in office, hybrid, or remote.

What you will be doing:

  • Initiate prospecting and lead generation activities through outbound call programs.
  • Conduct in-depth discovery calls to uncover opportunities across various stages of the customer lifecycle.
  • Leverage campaigns to drive new account registration and conversions.
  • Present account offerings unique to each customer and prospect’s needs.
  • Educate and network with key prospects and customer contacts at various stages of the sales cycle.
  • Communicate customer and market needs and requirements back to internal DollarDays’ teams.
  • Target opportunities for new business by analyzing markets, identifying prospects within specific nonprofit sectors, developing strong relationships with decision-makers, and promptly actioning and qualifying leads.
  • Target opportunities for cross-selling and expanding business with existing clients.
  • Apply industry expertise by making appropriate recommendations to prospective clients using knowledge of client's business and goals, understanding, and then explaining DollarDays’ unique value proposition.
  • Actively manage pipeline of prospective and cross-sell clients and provide weekly updates to management.
  • Monitor competition by gathering current information on pricing, products, new products, delivery schedules, merchandising techniques, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with clients by proactively providing support, information, and guidance; monitors and stays in tune with changes in client organizations and then recommends appropriate improvements to increase overall offerings to the client.
  • Some travel is required to engage and build relationships with clients. This includes market-specific trade shows and events for new or existing nonprofit business segments.

What is required:

  • 5 years of Business Development experience, preferably in the nonprofit sector
  • Knowledge of Nonprofit practices
  • BA/BS degree
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward customers, with excellent relationship-building skills and compelling written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated comfort in making cold calls.
  • Active listener and effective communicator
  • Proven ability to influence others
  • Demonstrated success in leading and developing new client acquisitions with quantifiable results.
  • Knowledge of best practices for account development, including comfort in socializing professionally in both intimate settings and large social events.
  • Demonstrated strong self-motivation and independent work ability
