Description

As a Business Development Manager at Farmer Brothers, you will play a pivotal role in leading a team dedicated to driving sales growth in targeted markets. Overall, you will be instrumental in driving sales growth, expanding the company's market presence, and ensuring the long-term success and profitability of the business. Your leadership, strategic vision, and ability to execute will be key drivers of success for both your team and the organization as a whole.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and guidance to grow targeted regional new business.
  • Oversee and maintain new business sales pipeline and supporting process to close opportunities working closely with BDM. 
  • Lead quarterly account reviews with identified regional BDMs. 
  • Support retention efforts on customers within an assigned Book of Business (BOB). 
  • Demonstrate the values of accountability, inclusion, collaboration, communication, and integrity in actions. 
  • Lead the organization to set and exceed growth targets to ensure company growth and develop required sales scorecards working closely with finance & sales operations. 
  • Participate in key customer executive reviews to drive customer retention 
  • General manager mindset when it comes to financial responsibility and approach. Leads across a functional team and generates strong profit growth consistently. 
  • Make swift decisions in a volatile commodity category.
  • Provide sales training and guidance to the Business Development & Sales Ambassador Team and ensure the team has the best possible tools and direction to succeed. Provide clear direction and objectives and ensure team members are accountable for meeting expectations.
  • Assist in the growth and promotions of qualified individuals. Actively participates in the succession planning process. 
  • Work cross functionally with other departments in the company from supply chain to logistics and marketing etc.

Qualifications


Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required. 
  • 3 years of solid new business sales experience required. 
  • Previous experience in foodservice preferred. 
  • Proven successful negotiation experience required. 
  • Experience with cold calling required.

  • Solid Identification of customer needs and challenges. 
  • Solid Territory Management and Market Knowledge.
