Excite Credit Union is Hiring a Learning and Development Specialist Near San Jose, CA

Description

We are looking to hire an organized Learning and Development Specialist, someone with a passion for training at various levels, a clear communicator, and provides support and encouragement when it comes to the development of others.

The Learning and Development Specialist develops, directs, and coordinates Excite Credit Union’s overall training program. This includes assisting with new hire onboarding and training, required regulatory, product and services, personal and professional development, and skills based training. This position coordinates with compliance, technology solutions, risk management and other internal partners to ensure exceptional training programs are in place. This position also supports committees and as needed Team Member Survey Support.

Essential Duties and Functions: (include but are not limited to)

  • Responsible for being knowledgeable of, and ensuring that, Service Standards, as defined and established by the credit union, are actively pursued and routinely achieved in the day-to-day performance of job duties
  • Actively supports the Purpose, Values and Strategic Plan
  • Supports a shared commitment to ongoing training and development for all Team Members to help ensure their position and career growth. Updates and delivers technical and soft skills training programs to team members at all levels of the organization and tests participants to ensure learning outcomes were achieved
  • Collaborates with others to develop, facilitate and assess the effectiveness of Sales/Referral Training, and Leadership/Career development courses and programs 
  • Collaborates with Team Leaders to develop the annual Learning and Development calendar and modifies the calendar as necessary throughout the year 
  • Recommends new courses and programs that will support the Credit Union’s goals and objectives
  • Stays abreast of training/facilitation tools and techniques to ensure that a variety of approaches are used
  • Partners with others with new Team Member onboarding program and training
  • Follows up with trainee’s Team Leader to ensure that skills learned during new hire training are used effectively 
  • As needed, provide coaching, development and in person training onsite in branches and/or other retail work locations for side by side training, testing, and development needs
  • Using a variety of resources and tools assesses the training needs of the organization to ensure that programs are consistent with organizational goals and objective
  • Manages Online training portal (i.e. BVS) to design and update computer based training and works with Compliance to ensure regulatory and other required training programs are up-to-date and completed as required/assigned 
  • Provides regular updates to Director People Experience on the status of outstanding courses
  • Communicates regularly with Compliance as to the status of changes concerning regulations
  • Works closely and participates as needed in Project Teams and with Marketing to develop and deliver training of new products, services, and/or advertising campaigns to team members
  • Serves as an expert on the core system and supports Technology Solutions in the testing of new products, services, custom development, system integration and system updates as requested
  • Maintains an ongoing awareness of changes to procedures, policies and other factors affecting internal training programs and courses and makes changes as necessary
  • Collaborates on the planning, coordination and facilitation All Team Summit, Leader Summit, and Community Impact days as needed
  • Takes responsibility for individual career development and training and seeks opportunities to learn new skills
  • In the performance of all job duties complies with all federal, state, and local laws including but not limited to: The Bank Secrecy Act, including the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN); Uniform Commercial Code (UCC); Federal Reserve Bank; and National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). Performs related responsibilities as required.
  • Performs other duties, as assigned

Requirements

  • Previous experience with Fiserv’s DNA core system
  • 2-5 years experience in a credit union or bank
  • Strong Presentation Skills
  • Knowledge in design and delivery of training programs
  • Strong Technical Acumen
  • Strong Experience with Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
  • Demonstrated ability to be fiscally responsible

Desired Experience and Education:

  • Bilingual a plus
  • Bachelors degree in Business or related field
  • 2-5 years experience in the facilitation of management level/leadership training
  • Experience in development of staff level technical and non-technical training programs
  • Experience in the development of leadership and management training programs
  • Knowledge in design and delivery of training programs

Travel:

10-15% Travel among branches and other locations
