Responsibilities

The Trade Marketing Manager will work with Sales, Marketing, and Finance to create the trade strategy which will help lead to delivery of the overall sales and profit targets of the organization. This includes (but is not limited to) the Go To Market Plans, financial (spend) investment plan, distribution and merchandising targets, and pricing, with a focus on delivering maximum profitability. Responsibilities will involve analytics, strategic and tactical program development across the portfolio.

Essential Functions

  • Ability to function as the strategic link between the Sales and Marketing Teams
  • Ability to provide relevant customer and market insights to the Marketing Team
  • Ability to lead the annual customer planning process through detailed analysis of historical shipment, consumption, and spending data, incorporating the short and long term strategic objectives of the brands and organization.
  • Ability to set the trade promotion strategies and spend rates by brand, along with robust analytics of effectiveness (ROI) and recommendations to specific customers and channels
  • Ability to develop strategies and guidelines for new item launches, including development of insights, sales enablers, customer/market strategy and priorities for the sales organization.
  • Ability to support sales leadership in the creation of Channel /Customer strategies that intersect with brand strategies
  • Ability to create Shopper Marketing programs that achieve the brand/customer objectives and align with the JBP.
  • Ability to summarize monthly shipment, consumption, and spend performance into executive management reports.
  • Ability to create sales presentations (sales enablers) that result in execution of the brand objectives and drive category growth in accordance with the JBP.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • This position functions as the strategic link between the Sales and Marketing Teams
  • This position oversees and manages the trade spending budget from strategy to execution, including weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual delivery of spend as a percent of sales within budget.
  • Assist the channel and customer leaders in development of plans that achieve the DSMP objectives of each brand.
  • This position communicates with marketing all of the key customer timings related to execution of marketing initiatives
  • This position performs analytics that result in optimizing the distribution, merchandising, pricing, and shelving of our items in alignment with sales and brand leadership.
  • This position consistently monitors external and competitive events and trends in the marketplace

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • MBA degree preferred
  • 10 years experience within a CPG organization, experience in customer facing sales position is preferred but not required
  • 5 years experience with Financial and Consumption data within a CPG organization
  • Experience with successfully leading a team of direct reports within a CPG organization
  • Best in class analytical skills
