As an Accounting Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting schoolwide treasury management operations while making a meaningful impact in the community, as well as our youth's education.
Accounting Assistant Responsibilities:
- Monitoring and maintaining daily operating cash balances to ensure smooth financial operations.
- Reconciling bank statements with the General Ledger to maintain accurate financial records.
- Processing bank deposits and reviewing cash transactions for precision and compliance.
- Coordinating receivable activities by processing student billing transactions and monitoring incoming receivables.
- Executing general accounting duties, including reconciling various general ledger accounts and preparing journal entries for posting by the Controller.
- Providing valuable support in process improvement initiatives by reviewing procedures, policies, and controls related to cash management, accounts payable, and budgeting.
- Assisting visitors as needed, determining the nature of business, and directing them to their destination.
- Completing other work-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
Accounting Assistant Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of experience in general ledger accounting or finance roles, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.
- Strong Excel skills - pivot tables and look-ups (this is an interview question and quoted even more important than degree).
- Blackbaud Financial Edge = a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortability working in a school setting.
