The accounting manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations of the accounting department while coordinating and collaborating with other department managers to ensure information is efficiently collected and shared as deemed appropriate. The manager will supervise accounting staff to ensure accuracy with all accounting functions including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, financial statement and management reporting, compliance, and internal controls.

Essential Functions:

• Supervise and mentor accounting and HR/payroll staff
• Oversee accounts payroll, accounts receivable, fixed asset management, and general ledger activities
• Collaborate with the sales team to setup, maintain, and invoiced customers to ensure timely and accurate processing and year-end 1099 reporting as appropriate
• Work with purchasing department to setup and maintain vendor relationship and purchasing processes, including collection and maintenance of certificates of insurance
• Maintain banking relationships and online banking system access and processing of electronic bank transactions
• Audit, reconcile, and post adjusting entries as necessary monthly
• Prepare, analyze, and present to management monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and other management reports
• Partner with management to evaluate, and select appropriate business insurance policies to ensure adequate coverage at competitive rate and manage annual audits and claims as necessary
• Manage and administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, life insurance, and other fringe benefits to ensure timely reporting, payments and compliance
• Implement and maintain accounting systems to automate and streamline processes and reporting
• Leverage technology solutions to automate repetitive task and create systems which provide transparency an sharing of data with appropriate internal stakeholders
• Implement best practices and recommend changes to policies and procedures
• Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to external CPA firm for year-end tax compliance
• Manage and maintain timely reporting and compliance of all company taxes
• Prepare certified payroll reporting as necessary

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred
• Proven experience with 5 years in accounting or financial management roles
• Proficiency in financial reporting and analysis
• Effective communication and interpersonal abilities
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
• Advanced Microsoft Office & Adobe Acrobat skills
• Sage experience strongly preferred
• Software implementation and integration experience preferred
