Job scope:
Helps people achieve dignity, independence and theirdreams by developing human resourcestrategies, policies, practices, and procedures; making recommendations to theExecutive Director and Board of Trustees on such matters; and implementinghuman resource activities as determined by the Executive Director and theBoard. Also responsible for ongoing operation of the Human ResourcesDepartment, including employment, compensation, human resource informationsystems, performance appraisal, benefit administration, legal compliance,policy and procedure administration, disciplinary activity, personnel recordsmaintenance, training and development, unemployment compensation, and otherhuman resource-related activities. Serves as internal consultant to Center management on human resourceissues and as Center liaison with third parties on human resource issues.Education/licensure:
A bachelor's degree, preferably in Human ResourceManagement, Psychology/Sociology, Business Administration, or a relateddiscipline. Certification by a national, professional human resourceassociation, such as the Society for Human Resource Management or the AmericanCompensation Association, is desirable. Current valid driver's license in state of residence.Experience/Knowledge:
Five to ten years ofexperience performing professional-level human resource duties and providingdirection to a human resources staff, preferably in a public service ornon-profit environment, or an equivalent combination of education andexperience that has imparted the
needed skills and knowledge. Ability to speak, readand write in English. Ability tointerpret, communicate, document and follow written and oral instructions. Ability to communicate with the public in apleasant and effective manner and to maintain effective workingrelationships. Experience dealing withconfidential information and records.Physical requirements that are bona fide occupational qualificationsessential to the performance of the job:
Moderate lifting and carrying (15-44 lbs.), mobility,simple grasping, sitting, operating office equipment, operating motor vehicle,ability to see, ability to identify colors, depth perception. Ability to hear with aid, to write, count andread. Works alone and closely with others. Occasionally represents Center at large public gatherings and attendsmeetings outside of office area.Full Time
