Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Human Resources to join our team. The ideal candidate is responsible for leading the development and implementation of CFI’s human resources strategy, policies and practices to support the mission and goals of the organization. This position will oversee all aspects of human resources, including talent acquisition, employee relations, compensation and benefits, performance management, and compliance with applicable employment laws and regulations. guidance, direction and leadership for the overall HR functions and responsibilities by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policies set by Community Friendship, Inc. (CFI). Works under the supervision of the President/CEO.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities
Provides guidance, direction, and leadership for the overall Human Resources
Department
1. Directs the human resource management functions for the agency, including
recruitment, personnel selection, staffing, classification, development and
training, organizational analysis, fair employment practices, employee assistance,
employee relations and compensation practices.
2. Interprets and monitors the application of and compliance with the rules and internal agency HR policies and procedures for the department.
3. Advises the Management Team concerning HR principles, practices and procedures, and monitors compliance on a day-to day basis.
4. Represents the agency's human resources interests to outside agencies and at statewide HR meetings and advises the CFO on statewide HR policies and programs.
5. Stay up-to-date on federal, state, and local employment laws, regulations, and compliance requirements and ensure that CFI is adhering to all employment laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines, etc.
6. Makes recommendations and represents the agency in lawsuits, grievances, and complaints.
7. Reviews legislation to determine impact on the operation of an agency or the state. Gives recommendations regarding implementation of passed legislation.
8. Deliver presentations or training using acceptable methods and techniques; develop curriculum, learning objectives, and/or course materials as needed.
9. Assist in the development and coordination of plans and policies, resources, and mission as well as goals, vision, and expectations of agency or program; prepares and updates plans and priorities.
10. Ensures that the organization has a diverse and inclusive workforce, and work to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in all HR processes and practices.
11. Works closely with CFO and CEO to ensure that CFI is offering competitive packages to attract and retain top talent.
12. Foster strong working relationship with all members of the leadership team to ensure effective communication and alignment of HR initiatives with the broader goals of the organization.
Performs Administrative Duties for the Agency
1. Provides guidance, direction and leadership for all the day-to-day administrative tasks of the Human Resources area of operation.
2. Assist when need to perform pre-employment duties (pre-screen applicants according to job description, refer applicants for consideration to the Director, check references, sending out job offers, conducts initial orientation.
3. Processes paperwork for all new employees and terminations.
4. Responsible for all employee files and oversight of records.
5. Completes quarterly employee chart audits to assure all required documentation is complete and accurate.
6. Coordinates open enrollments for all benefits and process paperwork for the organization.
7. Prepares monthly report regarding retention, recruitment, staff engagement, and other reports as needed.
8. Assists staff with benefits and/or other HR Related questions.
9. Collaborate with other members of the leadership team to identify staffing needs, develop job descriptions, and create effective recruitment strategies to attract top talent.
10. Ensure that CFI’s employee handbook is up-to-date and that all employees are aware of the policies and procedures.
11. Performs other duties as assigned and ensures all duties are performed in accordance with CFI’s policies and procedures.
Assists in Carrying Out CFI’s Goals and Objectives
1. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes time and workload in order to accomplish tasks and meets deadlines.
2. Follows all health and safety requirements which are in accordance with laws, codes, regulations, and policies.
3. Maintains open lines of communication with supervisors about needs, concerns, and problems regarding staff.
4. Participates in leadership meetings, conferences, in-service training, and committees as assigned.
5. Assists in preparation for CARF and other audits as needed.
6. Performs employee relations functions and works pro-actively with managers and supervisors to develop strategies for the resolution of human resource problems such as inappropriate employee behavior and special performance issues, etc.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge of the theory, principles, and practices of human resources function: employee benefits such as insurance, paid leave, 403(b) Plan, LTD, medical and life insurance; employee relations, personnel/human resource management; job classification and/or job analysis; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 as amended and Title XIX; Fair Labor Standards Act and related employment legislation; and research methods, techniques, and/or sources of information.
Qualifications
Completion of a graduate degree in human resources, business administration or related field and at least 5 years’ human resources experience or administrative experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
Physical Demands
Must be able to lift 25 – 50lbs, retrieving and placing materials on high shelves and
on floor-level shelves; standing, walking; carrying; grasping; hearing; seeing; sitting;
kneeling; climbing; balancing; stooping; crouching and reaching.
