Overview:
Community Empowerment is a Chicago-based non-profit, working to provide medical and surgical care to communities without access in the Dominican Republic. Each year, we organize 20-25 teams of medical professionals and trainees to travel to various communities in the Dominican Republic to provide high-quality care to residents.
We are seeking a highly organized individual to join our team as a half-time Program Coordinator. This person will provide administrative support to the work we do, playing a crucial role in the smooth operation of Community Empowerment. This is a part time position with flexible hours and the opportunity to work remotely.
Duties:
- Support all administrative and operational functions for the organization
- Support the Board of Directors and committees, including preparing written reports and analyses as requested
- Work with the Treasurer to build and administer the annual budget for Board approval
- Work with the Board to to support the goals as outlined in the 2024-2028 Strategic Plan
- Assist with the organization of the annual fundraiser and other revenue-generating events, including engaging volunteer teams, contracting with vendors, recruiting speakers, working with branding professions, and ensuring operational and technical support for all events.
- Assist with basic bookkeeping using QuickBooks
- Prepare and edit documents, presentations, and correspondence using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Provide support to Board Members as needed
- Travel to the Dominican Republic once or twice each year for 5-7 days
Requirements:
- Applicants must reside in Chicago in the Chicago area or relocate
- Bachelor's degree
- Excellence in organizational support, with the ability to manage a large quantity of information and tasks
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook Calendar
- Familiarity with basic bookkeeping principles using QuickBooks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and document preparation
- Action-oriented and adaptable
- Self-directed and able to work independently
- Able to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
- Current passport
- Spanish language skills a plus
We offer flexibility and competitive compensation based on experience. This is a part time position, which will average 20 hours per week, but will fluctuate during busier and slower seasons . The busiest months of the year will be June through October.
