Columbus Urban League is Hiring a Program Manager - R2E Near Columbus, OH

Job Description:


Position Summary for our Youth Leadership Institute for our R2E:

Under the general direction of the Director of Youth Initiatives, this position is responsible for program service delivery; ensuring all services meet contract, funding, and performance requirements and are consistent with the mission of the Columbus Urban League. This position supervises staff; maintains site relationships; coordinates programming and actual delivery of programs as needed to meet high-performance levels.

Program Description:

The Columbus Urban League’s Youth Leadership Institute provides a number of services designed to increase academic achievement and enhance life-skills and leadership development for your ages 6-24. YLI programs include:

  • Afterschool programs
  • Summer & school-year enrichment programs
  • Alcohol, tobacco and drug prevention programs
  • Innovative STEM programming

Duties & Responsibilities:

Administrative Duties

  • Directly responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the activities and programs of the YLI.
  • Manages and supports the effective delivery of services; monitors services for efficacy; ensures participant services, documentation and data collection have integrity, are accurate and are compliant with funding, contract and/or performance requirements; proposes changes to immediate supervisor as necessary.
  • Keep current on contract and funding requirements and revisions.
  • Write grant proposals with appropriate staff for program improvement or expansion and ensure timely submission to the grantor.
  • Review performance data to monitor and measure program productivity, activity levels and ensures program is meeting stated outcomes and/or goals.
  • Maintain all records necessary for CUL databases, program records to prepares bi-weekly, monthly and/or quarterly reports and statistical analysis of stated outcomes.
  • Supervise program operations and monitor program compliance with funding
  • Represents the program and/or agency at meetings within and outside the organization; participates in establishing a network of other agency contacts and encourages collaborative community efforts.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled operations meetings as required; prepared, able to contribute as necessary.

Fiscal Duties

  • Develop, monitor, and modify program budgets.
  • Adhere to budget parameters, relative to successful program management. Execute on approved expenditures within budget guidelines as approved by Sr. Vice President
  • Supports funding research, proposal development and writing; and supports program fiscal audits and monitoring visits.

Supervisory Duties

  • Provides day-to-day supervision to assigned program staff; participates in conducts regularly scheduled meetings to ensure performance meets expectations. Completes performance evaluations in a timely, thorough and accurate manner.
  • Under the consultation of HR and the Director of Youth Initiatives, conduct human resource functions for the program including but not limited to interviewing, coaching, evaluating, and promoting program staff; employee personnel actions, including verbal and written warnings, and performance improvement plans.

Other Duties as Assigned
Required Experience:


The Job Requirements Education and Experience for this position are:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or related field.
  • Three or more (3 ) years of experience in Non-Profit programming, budgeting, experience with youth development programs
  • Must have customer service experience and demonstrate the ability to organize and accomplish multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills including but not limited to Microsoft Office is required.
  • Valid driver license, auto insurance and reliable transportation is required.

Professional business attire and appearance required.

Qualifications:

Certification or Licensure: A valid Ohio Driver’s License is required in addition to a driving record that is in compliance with the Columbus Urban League only if the employee is assigned to transport program participants, or any other type of activity that mandates driving. Licensure or certification in social work, counseling or other social services field desired but not required.

Other Skills and Abilities: Must be able to operate Microsoft applications, organize and prioritize work, time management, meet deadlines and operate office equipment.

Language Skills:

  • Ability to read and speak English proficiently.
  • Bilingual preferred but not required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and abilities.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to professionally represent the Columbus Urban League, and effectively interact with diverse populations.
