Colonial Parking is Hiring a HR Generalist Near Washington, DC

Position Summary

Responsible for maintaining and organizing all required documentation in the areas of: Payroll, recruiting, new hire orientation, training, employee relations, benefit planning and administration and retirement planning to support employees throughout their respective life cycle with the company. Ensures compliance by auditing all files and maintaining all required documentation in accordance with applicable laws and regulations. Participates in the recruiting, training, and development processes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • As the first point of contact for employees, this role is responsible for initial guidance on general HR matters.
  • Supports onboarding new hires via the company HRIS system and other required systems, such as E-Verify and WOTC.
  • Assists with payroll processing and administration.
  • Assists with general benefits billing and administration.
  • Responsible for ensuring the company remains compliant with federal requirements in the areas of EEO, OSHA, FLSA, NLRB, DOL, and AAP in terms of posting, policy, reporting, and secured filing.
  • Assist with the preparation and follow-up on all company unemployment claims.
  • Participate with Talent Acquisition designee as it relates to the company staffing process.
  • Participate with Learning and Development designee as it relates to employee development processes.
  • Responsible for auditing employee files to ensure all documentation is in line with all federal laws and regulations.
  • Responsible for implementing and auditing internal HR processes to ensure timelines and documentation meet all requirements as specified in the applicable policy and procedures.
  • Provide ad hoc payroll reports as requested.
  • Responsible at all times for reviewing, understanding, and acknowledging in writing when requested, the company provided policies and procedures that directly support completing my required work duties.

Non-Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • May be asked to be involved with the location openings and or other general activities.
  • Other special projects as assigned by Human Resources leader.


Minimum Job Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Human Resources or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in Human Resources or related field.
  • Established experience in Microsoft Office Products including Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.


Qualifications Desired

  • Bachelor Degree desired but not required.
  • PHR designation desired but not required.
  • Experience with HRIS and Applicant Tracking systems desired but not required.
  • Experience in the parking or related industry desired but not required.

Performance Standards

This position will receive an annual performance review from the direct supervisor to discuss actual performance as compared to company stated expectations and agreed upon job related performance goals for the upcoming year.

Physical Demands: as part of performing the duties associated with this position, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands-to-fingers, handle tools or controls, reach with hands or arms, talk and hear. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25lbs.

Work Environment: While performing the duties of this position, the employee may be subjected to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise level in this work environment can range from minimal to moderate.

Internal Contacts

This position will have regular contact with location management, corporate office employees, peers and field employees.
