Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional... is Hiring a Development Manager Near Chicago, IL

THE POSITION SUMMARY

The Development Manager is critical to the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the development department at CASEL. This role is accountable for leading project management, donor relations and fundraising activities in support of the development function. This includes leveraging Salesforce, Asana, and Outlook to ensure deadlines are met and to support donor relations, CASEL’s annual fundraising campaigns, and the oversight of gift processing. The Development Manager will also support each step in the grant process, including overseeing the grant award protocol, as well as supporting proposal development and writing, and reporting.

OPPORTUNITIES/EXPECTATIONS
The Development Manager will:
  • Serve as a key contributor to the annual CASELSEL Exchange’s fundraising goal by:
    • Project managing the fundraising process, benefit delivery, and post event follow up
    • Drafting and coordinating communication with sponsors and exhibitors
    • Serving as the lead for exhibit booth sales
    • Supporting on-site production and stewardship of sponsors and exhibitors
  • Provide detailed and timely fundraiser support for the Development Department through:
    • Managing multiple fundraising campaigns annually
    • Collaborating with CASEL communications department to draft and finalize copy for various mediums
      • Project managing the review process for communications
      • Tracking the timing, printing and mailing of communications
    • Supporting the writing and development of grant proposals and reports
    • Researching donors and prospects using tools such as RelSci and Candid
  • Lead the Development Department’s utilization of Salesforce by:
    • Handling inputs, reviews, and updates of data and records
    • Generating mailing lists and reports as requested by the Director of Development
    • Identifying potential areas for process improvement and efficiencies
    • Logging activities, notes and next steps
  • Manage the operations of the Development Department through:
    • Utilizing Asana and other internal tools to project manage deliverables and milestones such as:
      • Development pipeline activities
      • Grant and report deadlines
      • Other deliverables as assigned by the Director of Development
    • Driving the department’s stakeholder engagement processes such as:
      • Roadmap and task management
      • Presentation preparation
      • Correspondence and business documentation
    • Overseeing grant award protocol process through completion
    • Overseeing gift processing:
      • Gift entry
      • Follow-up communication and acknowledgement
      • Data integrity
    • Supporting continuous improvement of development processes for increased operational efficiency and effectiveness
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The background and educational experience required for this position are:
  • At least 4-5 years of successful professional experience in nonprofit development or related fields
  • Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices to participate in the planning and implementation of an effective, well-rounded development campaign
  • Solid project management skills, including critical ability to coordinate and balance multiple projects in a time-sensitive manner
  • Computer skills:
    • Microsoft Office Suite (required)
    • Salesforce CRM (required)
    • Asana or another project management system (required)
    • Candid, RelSci or another donor/prospect research tool (required)
    • Internet based fundraising tools (preferred)
  • Background in SEL and/or education (preferred)
