About the Position:
The Human Resources Supervisor plays a pivotal role in our organization, requiring robust leadership skills to effectively guide and mentor team members. Adaptability and flexibility are paramount in this dynamic role. Exceptional interpersonal communication and relationship-building abilities are essential for fostering a positive workplace culture and to effectively build collaborative partnerships within the organization. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of human resources principles and practices is necessary to navigate diverse HR functions at the City. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of strategic thinking, people management expertise, and generalist HR knowledge to support the City of Grand Junction`s employees as they in turn support the community. About the Human Resources Department:
The Human Resources Department ensures effective selection, development, and retention of the City's workforce. This includes recruitment; testing and selection; salary and fringe benefit administration; workers' compensation administration; training and development programs; and policy and procedure development. Our HR team is made up of dynamic, creative, and flexible individuals whose top priority is serving our employees and community. Duties

What You'll Do:

  • Plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of assigned staff; participate in the selection of assigned staff; provide or coordinate staff training; work with employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline procedures.
  • Recommend and assist in the implementation of goals and objectives for assigned programs and functions; implement policies and procedures; evaluate operations and activities of assigned responsibilities; recommend improvements and modifications.
  • Develop, interpret and apply human resources policies and procedures; ensure legal compliance; determine best course of action to keep programs in compliance; perform statistical analysis of data; prepare reports on a regular basis as required.
  • Oversee the administration of recruitment and selection programs; coordinate activities with departments and applicable agencies; prepare recruitment and selection information and criteria; review and evaluate applicant selection procedures; monitor the preparation and maintenance of recruitment and selection documents and records; monitor compliance with labor and employment laws.
  • Conduct studies, analysis and research on a broad range of human resources assignments; assist in analyzing legislation and regulations to determine effect on human resources programs; recommend modifications to programs, policies and procedures as appropriate; prepare a variety of statistical and written reports.
  • Advise managers and supervisors in employee relations, policy interpretation, discipline and performance management; participate in or lead meetings of employee groups and committees; respond to inquiries and concerns from employees; communicate strategies through written policies and procedures.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:

  • Four (4) years of increasingly responsible human resources program management experience including one (1) year of supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in human resources administration, business administration, public administration or a related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
    Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
