Hiring Range $4,864 - $5,474 monthly

About the Position:

As the Content Specialist, you will analyze, develop, organize, create, and maintain Visit Grand Junction's content marketing across all media platforms including Visitor Guides, eNewsletters, visual assets, marketing materials, and website content, while following brand guidelines and meeting strict deadlines. The Content Specialist will ensure all content is consistent and strategically distributed, understand, and apply web analytics, and conduct industry research on content and consumer trends while monitoring data to provide actionable insights. The successful candidate will possess strong and accurate writing and editing skills, including proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation, along with excellent time management skills, and proven ability to meet critical deadlines.

Visit Grand Junction (Visit GJ), the Destination Marketing Organization, is a Department of the City of Grand Junction. Visit GJ is dedicated to marketing the Grand Junction area, outside of Mesa County, to attract year-round tourism, thereby providing for a sustainable and consistent economy and enhanced quality of life for residents. The team consists of dynamic individuals who are culture-focused, innovative, driven, and dedicated to supporting the travel and tourism industry while reaching departmental goals that serve the Grand Junction community and guests. Duties

What You'll Do:

  • Develop and protect brand voice across marketing channels.
  • Create, update, audit, copy edit, and proofread a wide variety of materials including eNewsletters, blogs, and website content.
  • Manage, maintain, and develop user-generated content and other digital applications including media requests and web-based applications.
  • Prepare, organize, and maintain documents, reports, decks, marketing materials, meeting planner request for proposals (RFPs), surveys, and records.
  • Manage and coordinate local, regional, and state marketing co-op programs.
  • Strategize, plan, and execute a variety of marketing initiatives to include branding, new technology platforms, industry research and return on investment (ROI) tracking.
  • Manage web-based gamification application.
  • Manage, facilitate, and increase participation in the Special Event Task Force Meetings including the Visit Grand Junction Event Partnership program.
  • Manage creation and content of the Grand Junction Official Visitor Guide.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings and webinar.
  • Perform other duties of a similar nature or level.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For:
  • Two (2) years of increasingly responsible content creation and management across multiple media formats and one (1) year managing and coordinating programs and projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in business administration, hospitality, marketing, management, or related field.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Colorado driver's license.
Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
