City of Durango is Hiring an Administrative Analyst Near Durango, CO

The Durango Police Department is hiring an Administrative Analyst to support the Chief of Police and command staff.
In this role, you will oversee other administrative support staff while tackling a wide range of responsibilities. These include preparing and monitoring the departmental budget, maintaining accurate financial records, documenting meetings for the Emergency Telephone Service Association (ETSA), and managing detailed and highly confidential projects. Additionally, you’ll provide information and assistance to the public about department policies and procedures.

 What You’ll Do in This Role: 
  • Gather and enter budget details for the department and meet with the command staff to prepare for the final budget presentation to city leaders.
  • Review the procurement process, including processing purchase requests, ordering items, approving spending on purchase cards, and monitoring budgets.
  • Handle all aspects of Emergency Telephone Service Association (ETSA) board meetings: creating, posting, and distributing meeting agendas; providing budget status updates; recording meeting minutes; and assisting with the annual financial audit.
  • Check for changes in Lexipol policies and standard operating procedures and provide clear instructions for following any updates.
  • Maintain and update employment records.
  • Order and distribute departmental equipment, including business cards, keys, badges, medals, certificates, and more.
  • Write and review reports, letters, and memos; record and transcribe dictation; and independently draft correspondence.
  • Provide guidance to other administrative support staff.
  • Attend meetings, organize agendas, record minutes, and share information as needed.
  • Develop and maintain departmental filing and record-keeping systems.
  • Provide excellent customer service, handling public inquiries, applications, and concerns.
  • Prepare press releases, legal notices, and public communications that are in compliance with legal guidelines.
  • Compile statistical records and reports on department activities and operations.
  • Act as the main point of contact for the Citizen’s Police Academy, handling all administrative duties such as scheduling, coordinating instructors, and communicating with participants.
  • Assist the command staff with special projects.
  • Direct inquiries from the City website to the appropriate department contacts.
You Have:
  • A high school diploma or GED, plus at least one year of post-secondary education in business administration, computer science, or a related field.
  • Three years of progressively responsible clerical or administrative experience.
  • Skill in budgeting and accounting.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in writing business letters and preparing reports.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with business files, reports, and conversations, following the Freedom of Information Act and other relevant state and federal laws.
