Children's Home Network is Hiring a Staff Accountant Near Tampa, FL

 

JOB SUMMARY:

HYBRID POSITION in the Tampa Bay, Florida area. 

Assists in the recording of accounting activity and preparation of financial statements in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsibilities also include assisting accounting department with various other accounting activities.

Essential Functions and Typical Tasks:

I. Function: Assist in preparation of financial statements.

A. Typical Tasks:

1.Reconciling bank statements and recording applicable general ledger entries.

2.Reconciling cash receipts in Raisers Edge to general ledger.

3.Recording in-kind revenue in general ledger.

4.Posting cash receipts and recording in general ledger all non-contract payments.

5.Maintaining spreadsheets and reconciliations for various general ledger accounts.

6.Maintaining fixed asset listing including Construction in Progress and related depreciation for all CHN assets.

7.Reconciling due to/from accounts monthly, and preparing request for transfer of funds to Director of Finance and CFO.

8.Prepares monthly entries for prepaid expenses, occupancy, and other allocations.

9.Prepares monthly and year-end accruals as assigned.

10.Assists with maintenance of various expense allocations.

11.Indexes and tracks agency vendor contracts.

12.Records, tracks, and prepares general ledger entries for recognition of and release of restricted revenue activity monthly.

II. Function: Assist with accounting activities

A.Typical Tasks:

1.Assist with CHN insurance renewals.

2.Back up Accounts Payable and Payroll functions, and specific duties of AR Specialist as assigned, and financial recording and reporting functions of the Director of Finance.

3.Generates monthly financial statement reports from MIP for Director of Finance/CFO and financial statement package for program directors.

4.Assists in the preparation of the annual budget, retirement plan audit, completion of annual tax filings and financial audit.

5.Participates in required training.

6.Completes all other duties as assigned.

Experience/Education/Skills:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with minimum of three years accounting experience required. Non-Profit Experience and CPA preferred. Must be competent in utilization of Microsoft Office products, with emphasis on advanced Excel skills. Experience with computerized accounting ledger systems and payroll systems necessary.

Competencies (abilities, and knowledge):

Solid understanding of general ledger, payroll, and fixed asset systems.

Thorough knowledge of all aspects of the accounting cycle and accounting rules (GAAP/FASB).

Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills; demonstrated ability to successfully handle multiple projects concurrently and meet deadlines under pressure.

Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven ability to clearly communicate complex financial concepts to a non-financial leaders within the organization.

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of unrestricted and restricted revenue sources.

Ability to gather and analyze data in order to produce reports and make improvement recommendations.

Advanced MS Excel skills and financial modeling and familiarity with ERP accounting software.

Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy.

Excellent financial and analytical skills; strong attention to detail.

Proficiency with multiple accounting software packages and capacity to learn new packages.

Must be able to conduct oneself in a manner that promotes professionalism and teamwork throughout the Agency, setting an example for others to follow. Responsibility for highly confidential and sensitive information requires ethics and professionalism beyond reproach.

Must be able to cooperatively interact with co-workers so as to promote an effective, productive work unit.

Licenses & Certifications:

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver’s license with no record of criminal driving offense or license suspension.

Must possess means of providing job related transportation and show proof of required insurance. Must be insurable under CHN’s current auto insurance policy.

Must successfully complete and maintain FDLE clearance, Federal background and state criminal background check and sexual predator screening.

Ability to solve problems.

Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, fellow staff members and others.

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast paced accounting environment.

Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing. Ability to establish effective working relationships with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and other individuals. Must possess effective interpersonal skills.

Essential Physical Skills:

Possess good hearing (with or without hearing device).

Ability to effectively operate a telephone and personal computer. Frequent use of hands, voice and hearing.

Ability to speak clearly and effectively.

Ability to perform moderate lifting (15-20 lbs).

Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time on occasion.

Extended PC viewing and keyboarding required.

Reasonable accommodation will be made for otherwise qualified individuals with a disability.

Environmental Conditions:

Able to work onsite in office setting while training and as scheduled weekly on-going based on needs of the department.

For approved remote work from home, must have high speed internet and dedicated home office workspace that meets department specifications and requirements.
