Description

Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. RFS is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote the quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate, and empower individuals and their families.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Director, the Human Resources Generalist is responsible for maintaining the recruitment, retention, and termination systems for staff, and approximately 265 employees. This position will have access to confidential employee information and the candidate must be able to handle private matters discreetly and professionally. The HR Generalist will run the daily functions of the HR department including new hires onboarding, screening as needed, administering pay and completing payroll, benefits and leave.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assists Human Resources CHRO with HR related tasks and functions.
  • Assist with recruiting by managing job postings and attending career fairs.
  • Assist in screening and interviewing applicants.
  • Maintenance of Personnel Files to CARF and Contract/Funding Standards.
  • Communication with staff about deadlines for performance evaluations (Paycom) and credential updates.
  • Oversees and implements employee new hire orientation which includes benefits and employee policies.
  • Administers health plans, including enrollments, changes, and terminations (notification to employees through Paycom and employee self-enrollment). Manages the feed filed created in the application.
  • Processes required documents through payroll and insurance providers to ensure accurate record-keeping and proper deductions.
  • Ensure all court lines are properly completed and completes deductions on HR applications.
  • Reconciles benefits statements monthly.
  • Oversees background check and drug testing process for new hire employees.
  • Excellent computer, analytical and research skills. Proficient on the web and with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Responsible for creating all employee ID’s and ensuring keeping ID pictures in the OneDrive.
  • Working with DCFS to ensure all background paperwork is completed correctly to obtain clearance of employment.
  • Assisting with running annual background paperwork for audit reasons.
  • Assisting with audits by preparing files and ensuring documents are available.

OTHER REQUIRED ABILITIES:

  2. Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The Human Resources Generalist must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job, including transporting paperwork and other materials between a variety of on-site and off-site locations and preparing for activities that may require traveling to off-site locations. She/he must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including a copier and printer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A prospective staff member must meet the following qualifications:

  • Must have prior experience working with HR software. Paycom is the current software being used by the organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years of HR/Payroll/Office Management experience required.
  • Demonstrated competency in working with culturally diverse, low-income clients.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, the Internet, and general data entry.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, TB Test, and background check.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • HR legal training preferred or must be learned in the first year of employment.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, such as Medicaid Rule 132, DASA, CARF, etc., specifically CARF standards and Contract Compliance for Human Resources.
  • Have a clean driving record and insurance will need to travel to other offices including a Kankakee site.
