 Director of Human Resources Job Summary:

  • Manages the recruiting and onboarding function through use of Indeed and the UKG (formerly Ultimate Software) recruiting/onboarding tool and coordination with hiring managers for candidate communication, interviews, hiring, and onboarding.
  • Ensures new personnel receive pre-employment criminal background check, physical, TB testing, and orientation.
  • Oversees management of time clock administration and its integration with processing payroll.
  • Oversees the payroll liaison (HR Coordinator) function and operates the UKG payroll and HRIS system.
  • Administrates the Payroll-Based Journal (PBJ) function for quarterly CMS nursing home hours worked regulation.
  • Is knowledgeable of all Carmel Manor-specific shift and job duty differentials and the paid-time-off structure as it relates to payroll. 
  • Communicates details and answers questions on all employee benefits programs.
  • Manages FMLA claims through MetLife claims management system.
  • Manages employee relations issues including employee disciplinary and termination actions, legal actions and consults with legal counsel as appropriate.
  • Creates and implements employee morale programs.
  • Maintains Employee Handbook, job descriptions, performance evaluations, and all other HR-related documents.
  • Maintains personnel files in accordance with established policies and procedures to include all required state and federal forms and records of required training.
  • Maintains current and accurate EEO-1 reports, PBJ and OSHA injury logs and complying with OSHA regulations.
  • Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal, state (including Kentucky and surrounding states as necessary) and local labor law and regulation.

Director of Human Resources Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required and 7 years of HR experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of one year of Long-Term Care human resources management experience.
  • Must be proficient in use of MS Office programs such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong interpersonal conflict resolution, employee relations and coaching skills.
  • Excellent organizational skill and customer service.
  • Experience with UKG software and/or On-Shift desired.
  • Advanced degree and SHRM-CP/SCP or HRCI-PHR/SPHR strongly preferred.
