In 2020, De'Longhi S.p.A. reached an agreement to acquire Capital Brands, giving it a strong, North America born and based anchor company and overnight bringing De’Longhi to the number 1 position in the very important blender category. This pairs with the Group’s leadership in coffee and other key categories.

General Role Description – Product Manager:

Own the entire product development process from ideation to shelf. As a matrixed organization, it is critical to work cross-functionally to deliver successful products that delight our consumers and drive revenue!

This individual is expected to be the SME for their categories, understanding competitive landscapes, channel strategies, and product features that drive success for our brand on the shelf.This person should be the consumer advocate for all new products, delivering on important features that will drive business by appealing to target consumer segments while also delivering on the category growth and financial goals of the organization.

Responsibilities:

  • Own the market!Create and maintain competitive landscapes, competitive assessments, and consumer insights activities, and possess the ability to translate those learnings into innovation product offerings and constant product improvements.
  • Define the business plan to achieve category vision; drive process improvements across planning, logistics, service, and internal/external marketing relevant to the category.
  • Own the product lifecycle from ideation to end of life.Partner with cross-functional teams to resolve product, quality, retailer, and customer challenges.
  • Drive product planning across the matrix with R&D, design, and quality; define opportunities for potential NPD. Develop local line-up logic, product positioning, and price strategies. Present business case to support product proposal.
  • Maintain existing products and regularly conduct product audits to ensure collateral, features, and VE initiatives are implemented, and the product remains relevant.
  • Partner with creative, recipe development, third-party resources, and marketing team to develop all secondary packaging for new products and line extensions, including but not limited to box artwork, user guides, recipe guides, quick start guides, warning labels, stop cards, etc.
  • Manage new product P&L by achieving targeted revenues (price and quantity), managing expense ratios and product mix to optimize net profit.
  • Works closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the team is aware and tracking toward the strategic vision and success benchmarks for the overall project and program.
  • Develop, distribute, and lead communications regarding new product timing, features, benefits, pricing, collateral etc. to sales & marketing teams to support launch and GTM. Enable and train field and channel sales teams as well as customer service teams
  • Partner with the cross-functional team to support a successful GTM plan and launch.
  • Work cross-functionally with engineering and factories to identify and implement value engineering and profitability initiatives.
  • Manage NPD (new product development) process, including: product definition; consumer validation (observational and in-home use testing); pre-production sample review; packaging and product launch asset preparation and sales team/customer service training.
  • Communicate project timing & status on a monthly basis. Coordinate with project manager to execute on time and ensure all milestones and schedules support key retail set dates.
  • Partner with marketing on all GTM activities. Own the overall success of the product in the field. Strive for star rating of 5 stars on all new products.
  • Manage and execute product extensions cross functionally.
  • Own the data and communication of product information across the organization, and creation and approval of New Product Set-up within Netsuite.

  • Capable of meticulously managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Self-starter who strives for constant improvement.Willing to take risks and excited at the idea of leaving their mark on the organization.
  • Enjoys the responsibility of having ultimate oversight over new product developments in a lean organization and is comfortable with wearing multiple hats.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to retrieve and communicate relevant information to ensure flow of business is continual.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) in Business, Management, Communications, or Marketing Concentrations. MBA is a plus.
  • 5 years of experience in product development/marketing, preferably with consumer and professional durable home appliances.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, high-impact environment.
  • Strong verbal, presentation, and written communication skills
  • Resourceful, well-organized, highly dependable, efficient, and detail-oriented
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.
