Business Development Manager

Location: Charlotte, NC / Remote

Position Type: Sales

Overview: 

As a Business Development Manager, you will be a key driver of growth and expansion for our organization as we hire and develop a team to support several critical areas, including customer acquisition, relationship management, and project coordination.

Responsibilities:

  1. Customer Acquisition and Relationship Management:
    • Start-Up New Customers: Your primary focus will be identifying and onboarding new customers. This involves understanding their unique needs, presenting our products or services, and building strong relationships. You’ll collaborate closely with our channel-specific leader to ensure a seamless handoff of the account.
    • Maintain Existing International Business: You will oversee and ensure customer satisfaction, address any issues promptly, and proactively identify growth opportunities.
  2. Business Development Team Leadership:
    • Outbound Calling for Mid-Tier Accounts: Leading a team that focuses on outbound calling to mid-tier accounts. This team will drive specific initiatives outlined by the organization, such as promoting new products, marketing campaigns and trade show offerings.
    • Lead Generation for Field Sales: Your team will play a pivotal role in developing new customer leads for our field sales team. These qualified prospects will be pursued to expand our business further.
    • Gap Analysis: Identifying opportunities within existing customers to expand our assortment in the current department and explore other categories within the customer portfolio.
  3. Inside Support Team Management:
    • Project Management: You’ll oversee the inside support team, which handles various sales-related projects. This includes coordinating trade shows, ensuring flawless retail execution, and addressing customer satisfaction.
    • Administrative Support: Your team will handle administrative tasks to support our sales efforts efficiently.
  4. Localized Marketing Efforts:
    • Store-Level Awareness and Sales: Leading a team responsible for localized marketing efforts to drive awareness and boost sales at the store level through targeted campaigns and promotions.
  5. Project Coordination:
    • Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A): You’ll assist in onboarding new businesses into our existing portfolios and identifying expansion opportunities.
    • Other Projects: As needed, you’ll coordinate, manage, and lead additional projects. These could range from process improvements to cross-functional initiatives.

Qualifications:

To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

  • Experience: A proven track record in business development, sales, or a related field. 10 years of experience in Sales or BD role for a reputable organization. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or related field.
  • Leadership Skills: The ability to lead and motivate teams effectively.
  • Communication: Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Analytical Thinking: The capacity to analyze market trends, identify opportunities, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Project Management: Experience in managing projects and coordinating cross-functional efforts.
