Summary

The Clinical Supervisor is responsible to build a collaborative team encompassing front desk, crisis intake and mobile crisis teams to respond to the needs of the community and linking persons in crisis to community-based care. The Licensed clinician will accompany Chicago Police personnel to the homes of persons who have been identified as high utilizers of police services in lieu of seeking appropriate care via mental health and substance use treatment providers. This position is part of a police diversion project with the goal of reducing recidivism for persons with SMI/SUD from arrest and incarceration at Cook County Jail.

Role and Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead clinician to assess and ensure that persons with SMI/OUD are linked to appropriate community-based treatment.
•  Responsible 24/7/365 for ensuring coverage and supervision in situations which require crisis response.
• Work in collaboration with all teams housed at WCTWC and other BEW sites to develop appropriate referrals for members.
• Supervise, support, and evaluate front desk staff, intake staff, mobile crisis teams in order to provide quality services.
•  Facilitate weekly/monthly supervision for teams/individuals or as needed to address crisis responses and interventions.
•  Oversees IHPA project within Mobile Crisis Team and ensures all activities are billed and completed in a timely manner.
•  Responsible for providing all support, services, and treatments necessary to deliver integrated crisis response, crisis stabilization, interventions, and crisis prevention activities to individuals with mental health, substance abuse, and developmental disabilities.
• Ensure operations of the crisis continuum s are functioning to meet the standards set forth by grants, contracts and agency policies.
• Accompany CPD personnel to the homes of persons who are identified as high utilizers and conduct crisis assessment and linkage.
•  Ensure warm-hand off after crisis assessment is completed by securing first appointment for member at referring agency. Provide crisis intervention/de-escalation as necessary.
• Support team in making appropriate recommendations for treatment and level of care (i.e. outpatient vs. inpatient).
• Network with other community agencies to ensure effective care in the delivery of services.
•  Complete petitions for inpatient treatment as necessary.
• Build effective relationships with CPD that enable cooperation and collaboration around identified cases.
• Complete reports of service encounters as determined by the Project manager.
•  Provide direct clinical services to clients when not engaged in Mobile Crisis Assessments.

QUALIFICATION AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

➢ Must hold a valid Illinois License as a Social Worker (LCSW) or Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC).

➢ Demonstrate knowledge and experience in crisis intervention.

➢ Demonstrate cultural competence in working with low-income disadvantaged populations.

➢ Demonstrate ability to coordinate treatment and collaborate with multiple providers.

➢ Must possess excellent communication skills both written and oral.

➢ Service oriented, empathetic, and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population

➢ Must pass mandatory background checks and pre-employment drug screen.
