Summary
The Developmental Disabilities Training Counselor Aide is responsible for assisting Training Counselors with providing skills training, direct treatment and habilitation services to adult male and female consumers who are developmentally challenged and in some cases, dually diagnosed with mental illness.
Role and Responsibilities
· Carry a caseload of 4 to 6 developmentally challenged consumers, some of which might be dually diagnosed with mental illness.
· Assist with providing skills training, direct treatment and habilitation services to consumers primarily using a group programming format.
· Formulate and implement goal-directed individualized service plans and behavior modification programs for consumers.
· Conduct mental health assessments.
· Maintain active caseload, qualitatively and quantitatively, according to agency standard with proper documentation of consumer services.
· Assist with ensuring medication compliance, monitoring and training.
· Assist with facilitating off-site activities to enhance socialization and community awareness.
· Provide case management (referral, linkage, support, advocacy and aftercare) services for consumers.
· Coordinate and monitor transportation for consumers.
· Complete all required statistical reports including Individual Client & Agency Plans (ICAP) within the specified time frame.
· Participate in all agency and program meetings.
· Participate in supervision on a regular scheduled basis.
· Participate in staff development training and peer review activities.
· Perform Direct Support Professional services as required by the Department of Human Services/Division of Developmental Disabilities.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Diploma;
Certified as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) or successfully the DSP classroom-type training and score a minimum of 80% within 60 days of hire;
Have at least one year of work experience with the developmentally challenged/mentally ill population.
Service oriented, empathetic and able to interact and develop rapport with a diversified population
Must pass mandatory background checks which may include pre-employment verification drug screen.
