Job Description

Job Overview:

Be customers’ trusted advisor, advancing mutual success and growth. Primary objective is to maintain an excellent customer relationship, driving increased business from multi-site strategic accounts. The Strategic Account Manager will manage multiple accounts. High-level responsibilities include establishing and maintaining detailed account plans, leading to customer satisfaction, and achieving sales goals.

Job Functions:

  • Serve as customers’ trusted advisor. Understand customers’ business, organization, sites, pain points, and areas to grow.
  • Create and maintain account plans for each account. The Strategic Account Manager is the primary customer point of contact. Ensure the account plans are regularly maintained and actioned. Must be actively engaged in a consistent cadence with assigned accounts, developing relationships at all levels, remedying issues in a timely fashion, visiting customers, prioritizing changes, and leading QBR’s.
  • Delegate and coordinate sales activities that evolve from account plan initiatives. Collaboration with the specific internal sales team(s) – SAE’s, FAE’s, Robotics, Software, Consulting, Applications, etc. on respective projects. This will tie into specific sales goals from new systems, retrofits, maintenance/support/parts contracts, etc.
  • Identify customers key decision makers, coaches, and influencers. Show meaningful relationship progress across the customers organization, while delegating relationship management as necessary. Customer will view Bastian Solutions as their trusted advisor.
  • Have a detailed knowledge of new and existing automation technologies and applications, enabling the Strategic Account Manager to bring these technologies, process, ideas, etc. to their respective accounts.
  • Understand competitive landscape, market business trends, account expectations, and external threats to business. On-going research and networking are key components to being successful in these aspects.
  • Become our customers' advocate within Bastian Solutions, supporting issue escalation, prioritizing tasks, relationships, changes, etc.

Travel Requirements:

  • Business related travel to company and customer sites – 50% (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)

Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications :

  • 5 years of customer account management experience. 10 years preferred.
  • Preferred Degrees: Engineering, Business.
  • Strong personal and networking skills
  • Sales and/or account management experience. Preferably in material handling automation.
  • An understanding of automated material handling design considerations.
  • Ability to collaborate within a team environment both in-person and virtual.
  • Ability to communicate to all levels in an organization with confidence.
  • Outstanding listening, written and verbal communications skills, including strong presentation skills.
