About us
Banksia is an Australian inspired restaurant and bakehouse featured in the New York Times and on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives and other local media. We have a large, loyal customer base who love our unique and delicious bakery items and our upscale breakfast and lunch menu. We are about to relocate our Downtown restaurant to a larger, more prominent space at the corner of 12th & Main, where we will create an Australia-inspired Bistro serving Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. This will require us to expand out team and bring on a Pastry Chef to assist with our growing needs.
DESCRIPTION:
The Pastry Chef at Banksia is an integral part of the kitchen team being responsible for the production of our delicious patisserie selection, including our Aussie sweet treats. Banksia Bistro will introduce a dinner menu and the successful candidate will be heavily involved in creating dessert offerings, working closely with Ownership and Head Chef.
It is important our staff are cross-trained and this position will assist with cooking on the line and prep work as required also. This role will also assist with our laminated pastries (Croissants, Danishes, Scrolls etc.) and Bread (free form and pan loaves) during busy periods or when our current Baker takes leave.
You will report directly to the ownership, but work autonomously. This position will have the weekends off; however, flexibility to cover shifts when required is a must. The schedule for this role will be:
Mon & Tue: 3am - 11m
Wed - Fri: 2pm - 10pm
It is important the successful candidate is a self-starters with a strong, mature work ethic. It is a full-time role; 40hrs per week with the potential to expand the role further dependent on experience.
