Technical Manager

AEM (Association of Equipment Manufacturers) is a Top Workplace 2022 named by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and is hiring a Technical Manager. We are offering this opportunity to a service-oriented professional who enjoys a dynamic and challenging work environment to join our team of regulatory & compliance professionals.

This position supports AEM’s product safety, regulatory, and compliance work, striving to preserve our member company’s access to global markets, mitigate their compliance risks, and develop industry-based solutions to common problems. This position administers a variety of AEM product-focused technical committees which support the industry’s development of voluntary consensus safety standards, respond to regulatory rulemaking, and develop solutions to equipment-centric compliance issues.

Responsibilities:

• Work with members to determine their issues and concerns.
• Respond to member needs and requests in a timely manner.
• Identify, summarize, and present relevant industry information.
• Work closely with committee chairs and members to maintain open markets, develop best practices for safe equipment design and operation, and remain informed of industry trends.
• Manage all activities assigned to member technical committees.
• Accomplish and coordinate post-meeting action plans.
• Plan and schedule events.
• Work with standards committees and other organizations.

Requirements:

A successful candidate will hold a BS or BA degree in engineering or a related technical field and will have 1-3 years of relevant experience in a technical or product stewardship role in the equipment industry, preferably from an OEM or dealer. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate:

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
• Self-motivated, ambitious, and detail-oriented.
• Ability to independently use good judgment while planning meetings and communicating with members.
• Firm understanding of mobile equipment with strong technical acumen.
• Strong communicator and efficient facilitator of meetings.
• Effectively communicate relevant issues and news to AEM membership.
• Understanding the impacts of safety, liability, regulatory, compliance, and legal issues on AEM’s member companies.
• Proficiency in written communication.
