Associated Students UCLA is Hiring a Development Manager Near Los Angeles, CA

Associated Students UCLA, as a responsive student-centered organization, provides innovative and excellent services, programs, products, and facilities for the entire UCLA community. ASUCLA was created when the campus first opened in 1919. Even in the very early years, ASUCLA meant student government, student publications, and student services such as a bookstore and cafeteria. Today, ASUCLA has evolved into a four-part organization. These four entities collectively make up the largest student association in the country. The four entities are:
  • Undergraduate Students Association – elected representatives of the undergraduate student body.
  • Graduate Students Association – elected representatives of the graduate student body.
  • Student Media – this includes the Daily Bruin, UCLARadio.com, the Bruin Life Yearbook, and seven different magazines.
  • Services & Enterprises – this division is designed to meet the everyday needs of students and the campus community. Major divisions are the Student Union, Event Services, UCLA Restaurants, UCLA Store, UCLA Photography, and Trademarks & Licensing.
Goals of Associated Students UCLA:
Products - To provide essential and convenient items that are easily accessible, of high quality, and low cost, including, but not limited to, academic support, food, trademark merchandise, and convenience products. In addition, to continue evaluating the utility and convenience of all products to make improvements that will best serve the UCLA community.
Facilities - To provide a welcoming environment that contains as much space as possible for the optimal functioning of general academic support, student governments, student organizations, and social gatherings. To have state-of-the-art venues for programming and efficient, aesthetic, and multi-functional commercial outlets.
Programs - To provide and support a diversified array of programming by prioritizing student-run, student-initiated, student-centered programming that reflects the needs of the campus community in order to enhance educational, cultural, and developmental social interaction.
Services - To provide an outstanding level of support to student government, student groups, and student programs through the state-of-the-art office and community spaces, and by providing adequate financial resources and personnel to ensure an active and vibrant campus life.
DEVELOPMENT MANAGER
Starting Salary Range: $60,485- 75,000

Summary of Key Responsibilities:
The Development Division Manager is pivotal in devising and executing a comprehensive program to secure external support for ASUCLA entities and departments within the Association. The incumbent will identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward individual prospects, donors, private foundations, and corporations capable of making philanthropic contributions. Demonstrating a proven track record in fundraising, the incumbent should possess the skills to raise funds for capital projects, lead comprehensive campaigns, and possess a deep understanding of philanthropic project development. This position entails extensive collaboration with the leadership of various units on campus to secure gifts for ASUCLA.
Qualifications:
Lead and collaborate with Division Directors to identify major gift donors, encompassing state, federal, local, and business programs and grants. Formulate tailored cultivation plans for each donor category. Seek additional development/fundraising dollars to fund short and long-term capital through outside sources such as federal and state programs. Efficiently pinpoint, cultivate, and solicit prospective donors for the ASUCLA Entities. Oversee the planning and executing fundraising events and stewardship activities, coordinating efforts among staff members. Develop compelling CASE statements and craft proposals in support of various departments. Coordinate proposal submissions with ASUCLA Entities and foster community relations programs within the Division and its departments. Collaborate with other UCLA Development offices on relevant activities.
Provide strategic counsel to the Director of Student Union Services and Executive Management Group on development matters, ensuring alignment with ASUCLA's needs in campaign plans. Drive capital and program funding initiatives both within the university and externally, as directed. Expand the Division's pipeline by devising outreach strategies to engage new constituents. Maintain and update materials pertinent to fundraising initiatives. Secure a minimum of $1,000,000 through development/fundraising activities annually.
In consultation with the Director of Student Union Services, establish Division goals, priorities, and policies related to development. Implement strategies to secure philanthropic contributions supporting Division programs and activities. Ensure attainment of yearly Division goals and oversee the preparation and administration of budgetary reports for development activities.
Maintain active engagement with the Division's external partners and accurately record all advancement activities, including contact reports. Establish a comprehensive system for tracking donor prospects and implementing a donor recognition program across all gift levels. Coordinate with designated personnel to track and maintain records of all donations and gifts, ensuring compliance with acceptance conditions. Represent ASUCLA at public, community, and campus events. Fulfill additional duties as assigned.
Supervises:
Directly supervises part-time student staff.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, bending, stooping, occasional lifting up to 30 lbs.
Background Verification:
