• Performs installations of network equipment and components to UITS standards and
  specifications.
• Performs individual network port activations and telephone service. Field performed patching
  from structured cabling to active network electronics, deployment of user voice/network
  hardware as needed, and testing service at the users’ interface.
• Maintain reliable and accurate facility and service activation/install records. Including
  documenting & processing location information for active data ports for e911.
• Issues or distributes materials, supplies, equipment to staff and/or contractor. Logs equipment
  signed out within UITS inventory system as needed.
• Assists in receipt of new equipment at UITS warehouse. Inspects and verifies deliveries,
  reconciles invoices against purchase orders, updates inventory systems, and processes receipt of
  hardware with UITS finance operations staff.
• Performs diagnostics, troubleshooting, and maintenance of physical network infrastructure.
• Analyzes, through diagnostics, problem areas in telephone system and takes appropriate action to
  eliminate problems.
• Configures hardware on digital system to accommodate specific university requirements.
• Surveys, inspects, and tests existing wire and cable equipment.
• Maintains facility records for deployed equipment and services.
• Install building wires, cables, and telephone equipment (data and telephone units).
• Move and arrange pallets of hardware base on needs of material.
• Deliver materials or equipment to sites on campus as required.
• Pickup materials or equipment from suppliers or various merchants.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

• Skill in the use and operation of test equipment and software.
• Ability to physically install and configure equipment, connections, wiring, and cable working from layouts or plans.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders, including management, network engineers, physical plant engineers, financial management, and end-users.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Must possess a “service oriented” attitude.
• Understanding of current voice and data network materials and equipment.
• Familiarity with workflow and ticketing systems such as ServiceNow and Pinnacle.
• Proficiency in utilization of personal computers and office productivity applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS Teams, Google Docs and Zoom.

Physical/Environmental Requirements

• Ability to frequently lift/move/transport up to 50lbs.
• Ability to work outdoors
