Arizona is Hiring a Research Scientist, Senior (Center for Innovation in Brain Science) Near Tucson, AZ
Plan, design, manage, and carry out innovative research projects related to neurodegenerative diseases utilizing strong background and in-depth expertise in the areas of molecular biology and neuroscience.
Perform experiments utilizing sophisticated molecular, genetic, cellular and imaging technologies in both rodent and cell models independently. Key techniques include rodent brain surgery, design and prepare viral vectors for gene manipulation in the brain, preparation of primary brain cell culture, and comprehensive metabolic characterization of rodent brain and brain derived cells.
Develop and validate new rodent and cell models for discovery research and therapeutic development utilizing deep expertise in molecular biology and/or neuroscience.
Analyze research data and provide interpretations using biostatistic tools and software.
Write manuscript for peer-reviewed publication and participate in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals.
Present results at national and international scientific conferences.
Share supervisory responsibility for graduate and undergraduate students by training new students and oversee day-to-day operation of their projects.
Work collaboratively with other members and laboratories in CIBS using expertise as described above.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated ability to independently prepare technical reports, graphics and manuscripts.
Demonstrated productivity with publications in related field.
Knowledge of primary cell culture and other general cellular and molecular biology techniques.
