Access Community Health Network is Hiring a Chief Human Resources Officer Near Chicago, IL

ACCESS is seeking a Chief Human Resources Officer! Reporting to the CEO, the CHRO will support the organization's business goals and strategies and create a data-driven HR strategy that addresses all key facets of human resources operations and workforce development. To support ACCESS’ strong community-focused culture, the CHRO will perform all duties and responsibilities aligned with the organization's vision, mission, and values. As an active member of the executive team, the CHRO will serve as a key resource and advisor to the CEO and senior leadership team on HR-related issues and fostering collaboration between departments and health centers across the health system to support the ongoing development of a talented, engaged workforce. The CHRO is also responsible for supporting the holistic employee well-being, fostering a vibrant organizational culture, and ensuring talent readiness for future challenges. Specific responsibilities include: Drive the tactical development and implementation of ACCESS’ strategic priorities and annual goals and objectives that relate to workforce engagement.Revamp and standardize the performance management system for every clinical and administrative role across the organization.Collaborate with senior leadership to develop a comprehensive workforce plan to deliver the right talent to match the strategic direction of the company while identifying strengths and gaps and aligning resources as needed.Revamp and standardize ACCESS’ onboarding process inclusive of every role across the health system.Develop and implement an HR strategy for critical HR functions and programs (Total Rewards, Talent Acquisition and Onboarding, Retention, Employee Relations, HR Operations (HRIS), HR Compliance, Talent Management and Development) that support ACCESS’ strategic plan, mission, and vision.Ensure effective policies and compliance with all federal, state, and local laws related to employment, benefits and EEO.Serve as fiduciary on the ACCESS retirement plan.Work closely with Board Personnel Committee Chair to facilitate monthly meetings and support Committee goal setting and ongoing work.Drive the development, implementation and ongoing monitoring of employee engagement and retention strategies.Facilitate investigation and response on HR-related legal matters including work closely with ACCESS’ General Counsel and external employment attorneys as required, to mitigate risk and protect ACCESS assets.Facilitate evaluation of current HR systems and tools to optimize and integrate technology across HR functions.Build a strong, high-functioning HR team that effectively meets the growing needs of the organization today and within the next five years. Candidate ProfileThe successful candidate will be a strategic and operational people leader with experience scaling world class organizations. They will be mission-driven, with a deep belief in ACCESS’ mission, vision and values. This individual will also embody care and empathy for the ACCESS team, with the patience and tenacity required to build for the long-term. They will be an innovative and thoughtful business partner and leader with demonstrated analytical, performance- and metrics-driven approaches to leadership. Experience working with a disparate and diverse field-based workforce will be critical for success in this role. They will balance business savviness with an understanding of how to maintain and build upon ACCESS’ commitment to excellent care. Professional Experience and QualificationsMinimum 15 years’ work experience in progressively responsible human resources leadership positionsMinimum seven years in Human Resource leadership roles (Vice President or above), with demonstrated success leading teams while serving as a primary HR partner to business leaders.Proven experience building HR systems and developing comprehensive workforce plans aligned with business goals.Deep expertise in performance management and compensation, talent development, and change management.Expert knowledge of employment law, employee relations and labor relations regulations. Union experience preferred.Understanding of HR technology and how to optimize data as it relates to strategic decision making.Extensive knowledge/experience working in larger not-for-profit organizations required, health care preferred. Experience supporting a large number of care delivery sites and multiple cross-functional departments, and knowledge of multistate employment law preferred.Strong system experience with one or more HR related systems such as HRIS, ATS, LMS, payroll, timekeeping, and/or ERP required.Experience leading and/or supporting DEI initiatives that promote equity and inclusion across all job functions.Experience in a highly regulated industry (i.e., health care) a plusHR related certification (e.g. SPHR) preferred.Master’s degree preferred.Competencies/Behaviors Results-oriented with a sound business approach, leading with vision and purpose while demonstrating integrity, courage and a strong work ethic that builds credibility and trust in HR services and value.Strong communications skills with ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization, including the Board of Directors.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with assessment techniques indicating an instinctive and pragmatic nature to examine, question, evaluate, report and act upon findings to actively curtail potential issues and optimize business results.Willingness and capability of being nimble and flexible when necessary to achieve desired results in a fast-paced environment, with the self-awareness and openness to serve as a mentor as well as have the capacity to learn.Team player with commitment, passion, influence, strategic perspective, and a high-energy level, who is also able to be self-directed demonstrating a propensity to take initiative to proactively drive business forward with solid judgment and decision-making skills.Cultural competency in easily assimilating to a multicultural environment, showing respect and openness towards individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds. To receive full consideration, interested individuals should electronically submit a resume to CHRO.ACHN@russellreynolds.com.
