Pay Range: $140,000- $195,000

Job Summary:

As the Director of Human Resources, you are a key member of the Human Resources Leadership Team leading the HR Business Partner function driving and executing our mission of being the best manufacturing company to work for. You will lead a team of HR Managers and HR Business Partners across our 4 California-based sites. In this role, you will collaborate closely with operations leadership to understand business issues and partner with HR and Business leadership to develop effective business solutions.

You are the right person for this role if you are an experienced HR professional, well-versed in all aspects of human resources including talent acquisition, coaching and development, talent management, workforce planning and development, change management, program management and employment law.
You will use strong analytical capabilities, solid decision making and judgement while establishing strong relationships with both leaders and team members. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees HR function for all Manufacturing sites and leads a team of HR Managers and Business Partners.
  • Provides organizational leadership and support on change management, performance, engagement, talent planning, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and leadership development.
  • Activates the HRBP team to drive strategic HR initiatives into our operation and execute HR standard work with excellence.
  • Works closely with VP of HR to design and implement strategic HR programs that drive results for our business and team members.
  • Demonstrates a continuous improvement mindset and culture into HR practices and drives change where needed.
  • Guides HRBP team and leaders on navigating HR issues including employee relations, performance management, compliance, leadership coaching and best practice.
  • Establishes metrics and a dashboard to report on activity and progress to the VP of HR
  • Understands the concept of designing, building, and implementing more productive ways of working and demonstrating return on investment.
  • Possesses knowledge in managing through KPIs, project management and planning.
  • Leads or contributes to special projects, inside and outside of the HR function, on an as needed basis
  • Regularly reviews reports and analyze data on all aspects of employment activity to identify trends, issues, and related causes. Develop recommended solutions and improvements as needed in employment policies, processes, and practices.
  • Demonstrates strong people management experience including a demonstrated history in developing strong HR service capabilities.
  • Demonstrates results-oriented, focused on outcomes & KPI achievement, not only inputs.
  • Provides strong insights, ideas and solutions from market research, best practices and benchmarking that influence talent and people strategies.
  • Maintains and updates company policies as needed.
  • Ensures awareness and compliance with HR practices and educates HRBP team and leaders as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required with a preferred focus in Human Resources, Communication, Psychology, Organizational Psychology, or Industrial Relations.
  • At least 10 years of experience working as a generalist or HR Business Partner in the Human Resources field, with minimum 5 years at the management level.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts.
  • Must be a strategic and results-oriented leader, have a strong business orientation and be able to react quickly and effectively to changing situations.
  • Strong ability to prioritize and escalate issues effectively.
  • Effective at coaching at many levels; especially executives and managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop strong relationships with business leaders and be a valued, collaborative team member in an HR organization.
  • Track record of success in the implementation of HR solutions.
  • Strong project management, time management and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and experience with analytics/KPIs, and metrics.
  • Effective written and verbal communicator, in both one-to-one and group discussions.
  • Ability to effectively and confidently present information and facilitate discussions.
  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in HR practices, policies, laws, and regulations.
  • Strong functional knowledge of human resources management (recruitment/employment, employee relations, engagement, performance management, training, employee development).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the manufacturing industry strongly preferred
  • HR Certification strongly preferred (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP etc)
  • Experience with key HR processes and systems
